Overall I enjoyed my stay at Wuzhen Boyue Hotel. This review would be worse had it not been for the super friendly gentleman on the front desk who helped to resolve the problems we had at the hotel.
Firstly, one of the rooms was dirty upon arrival and so the staff helped to switch the room. It was very easy to switch but we weren't happy with the overall cleanliness. The foyer was also particularly messy -in all fairness our visit coincided with Chinese New Year and Wuzhen was busy beyond imagination, but worth noting.
Secondly, my main problem, we were put into the wrong room type after booking 2 premium queen rooms. I didn't initially realise but we were put in the standard double rooms. We couldn't be switched for the first night as all of the premium rooms were already occupied. For my 2 night stay in Wuzhen, we paid a premium price for the luxury room but spent half the stay in their standard rooms. The following day, I had to return to the hotel twice during the day to speak with the staff and help organise the room switch (1 hour+). Management made it rather difficult to receive reimbursement and eventually settled on a 225 RMB reimbursement for my troubles (initially I was told 100 RMB was the maximum). This is a lot less than the price for both rooms for 1 night. I understand mistakes can happen but expected them to acknowledge the mistake and reimbursement a significant part of price for night 1. The front of house staff were super friendly throughout the process, just the management not fronting up to the mistake made.
