Pousada Papyrus

What a gem! Quality and good taste are the watchwords for this pousada. The friendly and attentive staff made our week-long stay a delight. Eli, the owner, gave many helpful suggestions, some even before we arrived. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The inclusive breakfast is plentiful with homemade breads and cakes, fresh juices and fruits, and a wide selection of dishes, hot and cold. I asked for the recipe for the savoury cake. The layout of the pousada slopes down to a shady garden with day beds to relax in the peaceful surroundings in the shadow of the Serra de São José. For my wife and I, the slope proved a challenge so Eli arranged for us to transfer to a suite near Reception and the staff quickly transferred our luggage. There are also some steps to access the swimming pool and restaurant areas but are not a problem. We unreservedly recommend Pousada Papyrus and would stay there again should the opportunity arise.

The owner is a very friendly woman who bonded with us from the outset because we are from Vancouver and she loves the city. The triple room was spacious and clean with a modern bathroom complete with large opening window. Outside are several wonderful covered seating areas. The breakfast room is surrounded by full length windows so has the feel of being outside. The breakfast buffet is top notch. The owner had a good suggestion for a walking tour which we took and would rate 10/10. The only downside for some people is that it is about a 10 minute walk to the town centre although we found it good to walk after a dinner meal. We were there in early August and the air quickly gets chilly once the sun goes down so you need something warmer to walk home. Highly recommended.

Super helpful staff, nice accommodations, wonderful breakfast, very good location. Pousada papyrus is very well located for those who like staying in a place within walking distance from the historical center, but yet a little bit out of the tourist busy streets. Eli ( owner) and all staff were super kind and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

We checked out a lot of accommodations in Tiradentes and chose for Pousada Papyrus, and it was such a good decision!! When we arrived the maid showed us all of the rooms to choose from and we chose the one in house 2. Privacy and direct access to the garden which has beds to chill on. We noticed some couples had a romantic night there at the fire pit. The breakfast in the morning was the best we had so far. A lot of choice of fresh fruit, even avocado, fresh juices and eggs. But what really made our stay was the lovely host Eli. She was so welcoming and funny. She helped us book bikes to cycle around the area, but also gave some advice on where to travel next and translate portugese for us. Her english was really good! We liked it so much we even booked an extra night so we could also relax a bit at the pool. Why we liked it better than others because it has an amazing view on the mountains, a pool, a garden, and is a bit more quiet because its a little bit outside the center. But perfect for a short 10 min walk. And the host made us really feel at home. Would definitely recommend to stay here!

Atendimento excelente, café da manhã excepcional (pamonha, bolinho de chuva, panqueca, torta vegana, alguns dos diferenciais do café da manhã) quarto arejado, cama grande é muito aconchegante. Localização ótima, da para ir ao centro histórico a pé. Recomendo.

Lugar aconchegante, cama muito boa, ótima localização, excelente custo X benefício... sem barulho pra dormir... fazíamos tudo a pé.
