Club Med Tignes Val Claret

Do not book! Meal times are chaotic and the food is not replenished - cold food and no bowls for cereals until we asked and even then the staff to ages to bring my them out! Food comes out cold because we were there as soon as restaurant opened and it would already be cold. Not being able to check in until 5pm is completely ridiculous - I don’t know any other all inclusive hotel that does this - Belambra are very very low quality and poor service for the clientele! I have gone back over the reviews here and can see that many people have mentioned that the 5pm check in is far too late - the hotel have done nothing to react to this feedback which sums them up - they ignore all feedback and don’t want to make their hotel better!! The boot room is chaotic and tiny, not at all big enough to accommodate the morning rush at 9am, everyone stepping over each other. Only two lifts in the building so takes forever to get down to breakfast in the morning. Finally the noise late night was awful from the bar - combined with the noise from the piste bashers, you can be guaranteed a bad night’s sleep at Belambra! Save up and book Club Med instead!

Just back from a week’s skiing at this hotel and can honestly say overall this is a great hotel. The location is excellent, genuinely ski in/out, rooms are large, warm and comfortable, satisfactorily cleaned each day, bar area is really nice and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was plentiful and whilst not exceptional, it was all perfectly edible. The organisation of the food wasn’t exactly intuitive with things you would normally pair together being at opposite ends of the room. Not a big deal once you knew where to find things. I do have a few minor gripes, which if addressed would improve this hotel further. 1. The 5pm check-in is a bit of a pain, particularly if you arrive a few hours earlier after a long day of travel. The only real option is to sit in the bar with your luggage and wait. We did get access to our room at about 4.45pm. 2. The food was not replenished very quickly once it had run out, particularly at breakfast, so had to either forego it or go back later to see if any more had been put out. 3. The food was sometimes lukewarm even though we tended to eat at 7pm, immediately after the restaurant opened. 4. The ski room is chaotic at around 9am each morning, the ratio of people to benches and the general layout could be improved. All in all these were minor issues and certainly didn’t put a dampener on what was a very nice stay.

My sister and I stayed here the week after new years and honestly it was probably the best trip EVER. The hotel was not only an amazing location (genuinely ski INTO the door) but everything else was faultless. The rooms were clean and cosy, the food was good, the ski hire is attached to the hotel so everything very easy and straightforward. However, the highlight for us was definitely the staff, who made the trip go from very good to outstanding. Every person was friendly and went out of their way to ensure you had everything you could want and need. Watching them running children’s activities was heartwarming, and yet they still pulled out all the stops for adults too! Special shout out to Matt (x3) and Claire who are all amazing humans. Whatever they’re being paid it’s not enough! Couldn’t recommend more.

We cannot praise the team at the Kids Club in Hotel Balambra enough! From the moment we arrived, they have gone above and beyond to make our daughter, Eloise, feel happy and cared for. Every single staff member has been kind, understanding, and compassionate, always ensuring Eloise is engaged and having a fun time. Understandably many of the children attending are French however several members of staff were fluent in English which made Eloise feel comfortable and included into the activities. The activities are well thought out, creative, and fun—Eloise came back every day excited to tell us about her adventures. The team’s dedication has given us the opportunity to truly relax and enjoy our holiday, knowing our daughter is in such safe and caring hands. The entertainment provided is second to none, with so much effort put into ensuring our entire family has had a memorable experience. We are so grateful to the entire team for making our stay so wonderful. Thank you all for your hard work, warmth, and professionalism. We highly recommend this hotel for families.

The Good! Hotel is in a good location. Check in was reasonably easy Room had a mountain view which was nice. Comfortable bed and good wardrobe space for clothes etc. Ski lockers available, just add your own PIN Bar area spacious and plenty of seating. Bar staff excellent with their service, didn't have to wait too long for a drink. Friendly staff at the desk Large dining area - some tables were reserved for families, so there must be that option available. Crepes in the lounge area good. Christmas Eve great for the kids and good entertainment. Christmas food looked good. Nordic Bath outside was good. Wine on tap in the restaurant and fresh bread available Great for families with kids The Not So Good! Room not available until 17:00 which was a long time after a long journey. Mountain view room you can hear all the piste machines late in the night and early morning. Toilets not kept clean in the public areas. No toilet paper or hand towels and paper on the floor. Lack of crockery at meal times. Bowls not there for soup/ serials et., no plates, dirty cutlery and glasses. Strange layout for the meals. No order for food, seemed to be walking back and forth to get bits. Butter by the cheese, not near the the bread, jars with jams too big as the spoon falls in. Had to hunt for plates/ bowls when available as in odd places Only fried eggs (cooked and left out), scrambled (luke warm) eggs or boiled if you do them your self. Cold bacon at breakfast and the fruit juicer broke so couldn't get the fresh juice for the rest of the week. Watched a child pick up a burger in a bun and put back! Lots of pasta and pizza, generally luke warm. Tried to go for food which was cooked fresh, but even that was not hot. The Christmas food was not hot Bar area in the evenings from about 16:30 is busy and children charging around. Kids were excited as it was Christmas, but there is a line where it can become dangerous when trying to carry pots of tea, glasses etc. No escape from the loud entertainment. Had to listen to Karaoke on Christmas day which went on quite late. We were not allowed to use the dining area which was quiet. No other quiet places for groups unless you go to your room. Very expensive for the quality received. Yes we had a mountain view, but can't see a lot in the dark and when out skiing all day, so save your money for a standard room. Shame really as were looking forward to a luxury treat for Christmas, very geared up for the children here and not adults.
