I stayed at this hotel for three nights in November 2023. It fell very short of my expectations. This is the worst hotel I have stayed in in China and one of the worst hotels I have stayed in ever. The only hotel where I have stayed that was worse was in Erdenet, Mongolia. I don't understand how there are so many good reviews. I question whether those who left good reviews actually stayed at the same hotel where I stayed.
1. The breakfast buffet was awful. The food was cold, stale, and seemed like it was left over from the previous day. When the juice and milk ran out, they were not refilled. The only Western breakfast selections were some stale pastries. I could barely stomach it. About the food being cold: When will Chinese restaurant managers finally learn that chafing dishes need to be heated from below in order to work properly? Just putting a heat lamp above the tray will not keep the food hot.
2. My non-smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke. Maybe it had been smoked in previously or maybe the smell was coming from the air vents. It wasn't a strong smell, but I could smell it. Also, the staff allowed guests to smoke in the lobby, despite this being against Chinese law.
3. The shower in the bathroom was difficult and dangerous to enter and exit, as the bathtub wall was too high.
4. There was a long hair stuck to the bathroom wall when I arrived and it remained there until I left.
5. The room was too hot. Opening the windows was useless because the windows only opened downward, so no cool air came in. (Hot air rises, cold air sinks. That's basic science.)
6. My reservation said I had two meals a day, breakfast and afternoon tea (16:00 to 18:00), but there was no afternoon tea.
7. There was an ice bucket in the room, but no ice machine. I was told to ask for ice from the restaurant during breakfast (which was also an ordeal--see no. 8), meaning you can only get ice before 10am.
8. Most of the staff spoke little to no English. I don't expect people in China to speak English, but I do expect the reception staff at a hotel chain which claims to be a chain of "international business hotels" to be able to speak English. The restaurant manager didn't even understand when I tried to tell her my room number for the included breakfast. She even asked a guest to translate for her. I was confused when said guest asked me, "What kind of breakfast do you want?" I was told to just tell the manager my room number.
I believe that the Radisson company should send some inspectors out to review this location, as it has certainly tarnished their reputation in my opinion.
