Aurora B&B

We stayed here in order to catch a nearby ferry to Orkney. We were met with a warm welcome by Jane who made us tea and served us cakes. Met Richard the next morning who makes the most amazing breakfasts which last all day. Our host were very knowledgeable about the area and where to eat. Very comfortable and very peaceful. Definitely would stay again if in the area.

A warm welcome of tea and homemade cakes served in the sunroom overlooking the garden was the wonderful start of our overnight stay. Our room was spacious and warm and the beds very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. We look forward to our next visit.

From the moment we arrive, Jane was very helpful. She brought lovely cakes and biscuits to our room to have with a cup of tea. She gave us all the information we required and the room was an excellent condition. Next morning we met Richard who was absolutely lovely. What a choice for breakfast for everyone’s choice. Made recommendations of where we could visit how long it take us to get there which is very helpful. We found it That nothing was too much trouble if you required anything. They had a good selection of coffee in the room. Dining room was very well presented clean and tidy. We even got a little gift on leaving, which is so lovely of them.

This was our third time staying at Jane and Richard's fabulous B&B while in Caithness for the Tunes by the Dunes music festival and I can't rate it highly enough. The room is huge and very comfortable, the location is perfect and breakfast is outstanding. Jane and Richard are extremely friendly and welcoming, as are black labs Zappa and Floyd! Hope to be back in 2025.

From start to finish, we enjoyed our stay with Jane and Richard. She greeted us with a smile as well as tea and delicious homemade baked goods served in their sunroom. She offered restaurant advice, which is always helpful since who knows the best spots better than locals. The whole property was not only spotless but also calm and comfortable. They really have thought of everything even small details like makeup removal cloths and toys for young children. The surroundings were absolutely quiet, so expect to get a restful night’s sleep. I especially appreciated how eco-friendly the property was. I could tell they made an effort not to single- use items like plastic tubes for milk or tiny shampoo bottles. Breakfast was fantastic with several choices like porridge with fruit, traditional breakfast, Greek yogurt, smoothies, and more. While Richard was giving some advice for both scenic and food stops on the next leg of our trip., Jane and my husband chatted about our shared love of the blues and seeing live music. Wish we could have stayed another night. Stay here. You won’t regret it

Upon arrival Jane was happy to get us a cup of tea and a snack, in the sun room. The Orkney room was fabulous, the breakfast wonderful and the advise from Jane and Richard invaluable. Jane was happy to help us organise a booking for dinner in Thurso and had plates available the next night for when we had take away tea. This is a first rate B&B and I fully recommend using this wonderful place for a base when exploring Caithness. Hope to return one day.
