Forss House

We stayed here as a staycation and could not fault anything. Staff very friendly and attentive and a credit to the hotel. The room we had was in the grounds and we loved it.. plenty tea coffee and milk and biscuits... even the water in glass bottles were lovely touch. Dinner was lovely highly recommend the scallops. So looking forward to doing it all again next year.. Thankyou for a fabulous stay Forss house

We really enjoyed our stay, the bed was very comfortable, the room was cosy and well appointed. The bath was big and deep, with plentiful hot water to fill it. All the staff we met were so friendly and helpful. There are lovely grounds to have a walk in, either along the river or in the woodland. The highlight of our stay was the delicious food, everything was cooked perfectly. We will definitely return, thank you.

Another “fur-tastic”stay at Forss House Hotel. “Pawrents” took me with them “fur” an overnight stay and they had dinner too. Our room was “fur-midible” …… a lovely big room, huge comfy bed (so I was told!) and “beleash” me when I say the bath was amazing! I got to relax with the “pawrents” in the lounge while they had drinks ….. well, I was on “howl-Iiday”. Breakfast was great and I got a sausage all to myself - I made quick work of that ……. it was the “leash” I could do. We all love it there - I “chews” Forss House for our next “pet-away”.

Almost certainly one of the best tucked away gems of a Hotel in Caithness. It always feels like coming home staying at its well-run luxurious accommodation at Forss. The food is spectacular and the service impeccable. It’s no wonder then that in the Winter months especially it’s packed with locals enjoying a night out or stay with friends in one of their very comfortable rooms. Can definitely recommend any of their Radclyffe Bedrooms. The bath in our last room was big enough for 3! Evan is always efficient, friendly and accommodating. Sandra serving breakfast always adds a touch of humour to what is probably the best breakfast anywhere. We look forward to our return visit.

Booked afternoon tea as a treat for my husband. Evan welcomed us to the Forss House Hotel and quickly ushered us to our awaiting table. We were served a wonderful selection of finger sandwiches, warm scones, toasty sausage rolls, fancy cakes, shortbread, as well as sugary confectionary. Every single item was a delight and it was relished by both myself and husband. A number of other guests were in the dining room also having afternoon tea and every table was checked a number of times that we had everything we needed as well as continual offerings to replenish the tea and coffee. Forss House Hotel and Evan did us all proud. If you want a very special afternoon tea then this is the place to go.

After reading reviews and browsing photos of the Forss House Hotel my wife and I went ahead and booked our stay. On arrival there was no one at reception, but after ringing buzzer a pleasant member of staff promptly appeared and signed us in. We were not staying in the main hotel, but in one of the outhouse units. Our room was very spacious and pleasant, but noted one of the ceiling lights was faulty and one bedside light had a fault also and could not be controlled by the bedside switch, only at door switch. Furniture was neither oldie world or modern, but 'shabby sheik' . The thing that bothered us the most was for the price and hype there was no mini fridge facility to either keep fresh milk or cold drinks in room, only the usual rubbishy cartons of long life milk and a few bits and pieces. Bed was king size and comfortable and the bath/shower room was excellent. The surrounding grounds also excellent and car parking very good. The dinner menu had very limited choice and 'high brow' and at a cost of 70.00 per head with a discretionary 12.5 % additional charge added, we decided to eat out locally instead, that said the breakfast quality of food was exceptional, though no self service starter, all has to be ordered and served. Hope to have offered a fair review and with a couple improvements of costs vs facilities etc. we may have been tempted to return, but against the current offering I doubt we will.
