HostelExp, Varkala - A Beach Town Hostel

Generally a happy and friendly place, with many good activities you can join. Amazing smoothies and drinks and coffee and breakfasts. The traditional dinner brought in by a local family served on banana leaves was excellent- the community cooking dinners at the hostel were also great. the toddy wine lunch was mediocre - they weren’t set up for a big group and didn’t have much for vegetarians. the fish lunch at the local restaurant was great- the boat ride by the “island” (mangroves) is too far away and boring bc you just sit there for a long time, after you’ve been sitting in the car for a long time. Loud music plays until late late late at night even though a sign says it stops at 11:30. Overall it’s good - great staff, great AC, great food.
