Staybridge Suites Plano - the Colony

We have been IHG diamond elite members for years and have traveled the world. We were so disappointed and disgusted with this hotel. After arriving at 5:00 pm from a long day of travel we checked in and went out to eat. Upon our return at 8:30 pm my wife was tired and turned the sheets down and found 3 ants crawling in the bed. Looking around the room we found ants all over the room. In the refrigerator, the cupboards, the counters, the walls, the bathroom etc. after calling the front desk I was told someone would be up to the room. After a half hour of waiting my wife called back and complained and Aiden at the front desk said “oh I thought it was only a couple of ants”. My wife proceeded to tell them she had killed over 15 in a matter of a few minutes. The point is there is ants in the room it should t matter how many. He said he would send the maintenance guy up to spray as they had no other rooms available. The maintenance man arrives at 10:40pm and after spraying the room it smelled of pesticides. my regret is not asking for a refund and getting the heck out of there. My wife woke up twice in the middle of the night with ants crawling on her arm. They took 50% off the bill but we asked for a refund in the morning and was told they couldn’t do that and they would talk to a manager. Never heard from them. The maintenance man claimed they get ants from food people eat or sticky candy from kids left behind but the front desk claims they’ve never had a problem in the room or other parts of the hotel. The maintenance man said he sprays for them Very disappointed that we were not refunded nor contacted by the manager as of yet.

I found holes and yellowing in the blanket over the sheets. You can hear the floor above you shower in the morning. The toilet is so low, you feel like you are climbing to get up. Otherwise the property was average. We stayed in the two bed suite and it was large and roomy.

I was hired at this hotel. I worked week and a 1/2 lots of hour time over the course of the week and a 1/2.. I worked 18 hours and one day. Today I am battling them for my check. Not only did I cover 1 hotel they have 3 sister hotels in 1 complex complex, I shouldn't listen when they're other night guy said that he wasn't getting paid and quit! So here I am working night on it at multiple hotels hotels, because they can't pay their people.. I need to know the next steps do I go to the BBB Better Business Bureau or do I go to IHG which they franchise through?? Can I sue them considering I drove all the way to the colony from plano just to get my check there wasn't there?

The Front desk help girl , Jena, was very friendly and very helpful and a sort of funny. And she even helped me carry my coin collection and giant stuffed bear i won while at six flags with the family on vacation

My family and I have stayed in several Staybridge Suites Hotels - we like the brand and have booked in various locations before our stay here at The Colony/Plano TX. Out of all of the Staybridge Suites Experiences we have had, this is the worst, and I will never stay here again and would not recommend staying to anyone I know. The only plus I can mention is that it's location is near a lot of nice restaurants, bars, shopping opportunities and such. That's all the good I will remember. We booked as a family of 2 adults and 4 little children (included the age as well) and they put us on the top/4th floor. Kids are active, like to run/jump around, go outside etc. A placement on the lower level would have been a much better accomodation. They needed to do repair work on the elevator on some days during our stay resulting in the guests not being able to use any of the two elevators on one occasion without notice or any accomodation. Upon asking the front desk (female staff at that time) about when they would work again, because I have a knee injury and had to take the stairs from/up to 4th floor, I just got a shrug of indifference like: "sorry, not my problem." The breakfast, oh that sorry excuse of a breakfast they offer ...The layout of the breakfast buffet is somewhat the same in all the Staybridge Suites Hotels, so I think I can make a fair comparison. The quality of the food is below average. The ONE sort of bagels they offer is rock hard (three days in a row, the same rock hard buns). The soda/fountain drink machine was "out of order!" during our whole stay (almost two weeks) and the juice drink machine didn't offer cranberry juice like all other Staybridge Suites we stayed at - only apple and orange juice (as well as lemonade and water) but the orange juice was spoiled on more than one morning ....like "not drinkable"-spoiled. coffee/tea station has not the same size cups all other Staybridge Suites have, only small styrofoam cup and NO LIDS. Seriously?! Spilling hot beverages over yourself, others and the hotel is a given with that (and it happens more than often as large spilled coffee puddles in the elevator proved) The variety is...not there. There simply is NO VARIETY. Starting with the plates that only come in one size and no small bowl-like plates, to the cold drink offers (broken machine, lack of juices or spoiled ones) to the food. I already mentioned the rock hard bagels, and there was only one kind of bagel (plain). Seldom did they have two kinds of yoghurts, and fresh fruit??? Forget it. Every other Staybridge Suites we stayed in during the same period of months had fresh fruit cups or whole fruits (apples oranges bananas). The warm food (it was never hot when I got to it) is tasting very bland and just not really good: eggs are on the watery side, bisquits and hash brown patties are mushy, the potatoe pieces are either mushy or hard depending on what bit you bite on. My flight was delayed so I got in later than I wanted. The woman at the desk Jena was very nice. She checked me in fast and since everything was closed food wise that I tried, she found a couple options and I was able to get some food before my blood sugar went too low. I think she gave me a great room too. Idk if they are all that nice but she made my late arrival and long crappy day better.
