So disappointed. This sounded like a lovely little place for a two night stay in Jaffa with my 19 year old daughter. Sadly, it wasn’t at all as it was sold and I had to take refuge elsewhere on the second night when the walls of my room were literally shaking from the noise of a party in a bar downstairs. To their credit, the management have refunded the cost of the second night in full but have refused to engage on the issues on our first night. I had booked a room with a sofa bed so that my daughter and I would have somewhere comfortable to stay with two separate beds. The room is presented on the website as being suitable for couples or small families, described as ‘superior’ with a ‘balcony’ - no mention that the ‘balcony’ is over bar with a super loud sound system. We arrived late on day one - there were no staff on site to assist. There was one queen size bed and a sofa bed as described but said sofa bed was something of a complicated puzzle that took us around 20 mins to unfold. When we did manage to work it out, there were no sheets for the sofa bed or pillows, just a duvet and a ripped duvet cover. There was no one available to ask and so, whilst my daughter slept in the bed, I tried to sleep on the sofa bed without proper bedding. If I was a student staying in a hostel, I wouldn’t have minded but this wasn’t billed as a hostel and it’s a very long time since I was a student! My daughter was keen to use the shower (fair enough I thought), but even with the shower door closed, the flooding was pretty bad and we had nothing to wipe the water away and still no member of staff in the vicinity to ask for help. The result, a night spent with a water logged bathroom, leaking into the bedroom. Picture sleeping at the bottom of Niagara Falls! (ok maybe not quite that bad). Trying to use the facilities in the dark overnight without waking each other up/ slipping and breaking our necks was a challenge I hadn’t prepared for! When we left the hotel to go out for the day the next morning, I expected the room would be cleaned and the wet towels on the bathroom floor that we had used to try to soak up the flood replaced. They weren’t and there was no sign that the room had been touched at all in our absence. That, the vibrating bedroom, and the (quite sweet) hotel manager who took around 40 mins to get to the hotel at 1030pm and so much more, was enough for me to cut my losses, pack my bag and find a hotel bedroom with sheets, pillows, staff to ask question to, and the all important peace and quiet I craved elsewhere.
