High Leys Lodge

Incredible views from our room across the lake. Quiet, calm and restful place, beautifully situated and lovingly run with excellent attention to style and detail by Sarah and John. Fabulous breakfast and very comfortable communal area. And Sarah’s home bakes are delicious! High-Ley recommended (see what I did there?)…

We stayed for two nights as part of a self drive around New Zealand. Sarah and John made us feel very welcome and provided some great recommendations and advice about the local area. The three bedrooms used by guests are immaculately presented, a beautifully comfortable bed and a spacious and comfortable lounge for guests to enjoy. The views across the surrounding grounds to the lake are stunning at any time of day. Breakfast was provided and was a very good range of options, freshly prepared and beautifully presented. High Leys Lodge is the most perfect place to stay to discover the area or simply sit and relax looking out on the incredibly scenic view. As other reviews have pointed out, the accommodation is excellent, to a high standard and the view stunning; morning, noon and night with clear skies highlighting a multitude of stars. Sarah and John have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and relaxing by creating a peaceful ambiance. Apart from the cleanliness, comfortable beds, spacious rooms etc that you might expect, the offer of a platter for supper on arrival, freshly cooked/prepared breakfast, afternoon cake to booking local restaurants or trips for you, highlights just how much they care about their guests. It’s all the thoughtful touches, little things where they go above and beyond that make all the difference. They are the ultimate hosts in a stunningly beautiful location. Cannot recommend High Leys highly enough.

What an awesome place. The hosts, Sarah and John, were warm and welcoming. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed. Great view, too! The B&B really feels like a modern home. VERY comfortable. Wine in the evening and awesome breakfast each morning. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

John and Sarah are wonderful hosts in this idyllic setting. The view from the house across the sweeping lawn with the lake framed by the mountains behind is spectacular. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast is delicious setting up for the day exploring Milford Sound which is a relatively short distance away.

Beautiful spot right right on Lake Te Anau. Gorgeous views from our room overlooking lake and surrounding mountains. It was quiet and serene whether sitting on the terrace or in the living room. Room was nicely appointed with a comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Sarah and John couldn not have been friendlier or more helpful, providing recommendations for restaurants and local sightseeing. The breakfast was terrific with a choice of several dishes. Highly recommend.
