The Burrow Guest House

I would never recommend this place to anybody. I booked to stay here for 2 nights. Was told there were shuttles available to and from the airport. Also that they could arrange meals if needed, and that there would be someone available at the property between 4pm to 7pm every day. The shuttle that I had asked to be booked for pickup at airport was not arranged. The owner was called and she was no help. Had to arrange myself. At the property no one there to help. Was given room 8 at the top of the building. Had to get help from another guest as no way I could carry my bags up the steps. It was a confusing property to stay in, not easy to find my way in and out, bit like a maze. Cleaning staff were good, but I think the owner couldn't care less. Save the grief, don't stay here.

The location is strategically placed between the airport and Valletta, essentially there is NO easy street parking available. I relied on the bus, routes from Valletta serving the area include No. 81, 82, 84 & 88 journey time 20-25 minutes approximately every 15-20 minutes. A 5-10 minute walk from the respective bus stop. Check-in was welcoming, I was allocated Room 4, a single double bed with ensuite bathroom, each presented to a high cleaning standard. There was NO TV but the Wifi was good. The bed was comfortable. Also for an extra €15 a contential breakfast was offered. Definitely stay again.

Where was the customer service??? Arrived early by bicycle on the ferry. Arrived at the place early and the owner’s daughter allowed us to leave our panniers and check in later. Back later and the desk clerk checked us in and showed us where we could store our bikes. Everything seemed good. The room was comfortable and the wifi reception was good. Later that night, the clerk came back and said that due to a clerical error, we had been allocated the wrong room and asked that we relocate. Stuff happens, so we moved. The new room had no outside window and smelled badly of mildew and mould. And where was the wifi? The clerk apologized and said that they were trying to rectify the problem, but that would not happen until after we leave. Even the regular service was sporadic — at best. I have several clients that I need to be in contact with. Then, the next day, the Clerk said that the owner told him that the bikes needed to be moved out to the front of the hotel and chained to a fence. Really? His daughter saw the bikes. No comment from her. And, no direct communication from the owner! No apologies or rationale. Just rants at the clerk. My recommendation — look elsewhere.
