Tarraleah Estate

We booked 2 cottages for 2 couples However each cottage has 2 to 3 bedrooms. .so in fact we could have all fitted in One The cottages are beautiful and quaint . A fantastic 1950s look They are authentic cottages built to house the Engineers and their families working on the Hydro Electric projects in the 1940s. But.. a BIG WARNING. take food with you. There is no shops. The nearest shop is 35 km drive away. Take drinks wine and whatever snacks you may need or food you may need to prepare The highlander pub is great and had decent food but isn't open every day. The breakfast hamper that you are meant to cook yourself is Sparse. 2 eggs some bacon bread and condiments. Expensive at $20 pp. The views are fabulous. The walks beautiful and the serenity sublime. It's cold there so be prepared and use the log fires Incidentally one of the cottages had faulty Aircon and we had to move ...

We decided an overnight stop here would be a welcome respite between Strahan and Rosetta and allow us to visit various attractions on route. Keys and map of estate packaged and available on arrival, sighted no personnel until dinner was delivered to our room. The cabin was well located on the estate, good ablution area, comfortable bed, table & chairs, TVs in both kitchen/dining and bedroom. Overall somewhat cramped but very functional, I guess not all visitors have 2 suitcases and other baggage. No wardrobe facility. We were aware when booking that we would be without internet access and wifi for the duration. I am rating as 4* as while the ducks may be very friendly, someone needs to high pressure wash the crap from the paths and verandas so that guests do not have to tiptoe through their deposits.
