No. 32 Tarporley

My husband and I dropped in for lunch today. The immediate welcome from the waitress wasn’t the most friendly and with hindsight we should have left then. We ordered some soup and were told the wait was 30 minutes, whilst the soup was tasty it was overpriced at £10.00 each bowl. The worst part of lunch was the freezing cold dining room, almost everyone there complained. We both sat with our coats and scarves on. My husband complained to the waitress only to be told, yes everyone complains about it but there is nothing we can do. Whilst leaving the restaurant I heard one of the staff members saying it’s even colder in here than outside. We definitely won’t return here.

Lovely impromptu stop for a glass of rose sat outside in the sunshine. The sharing platter of cheeses, meats, pate and salad was beautiful, my husband particularly enjoyed the hot meat pie. Staff was a one man band today with the head chef Ben doing everything. He looked after us well and is a credit to the business.

I booked a room here for my mum & I for a long weekend. We selected their ‘best room’ & our expectations were exceeded. The room was lovely, spacious & spotlessly clean with all the amenities you could hope for, along with a few added extras. Quirky, lovely en-suite with a fab shower. We ate in the restaurant on 2 occasions & whilst the menu is limited the food was excellent, we talked with the Chef a couple of times throughout our stay and he was very knowledgable & helpful. We bumped into him as we were leaving our room & he even offered to help with our cases (prior to the restaurant opening)! I did notice a difference in service on the Friday v’s the weekend when they had additional staff that were generally more attentive. I’d needed to get up from my meal to find someone to order a drink on the Friday, this may have been impacted by us choosing to sit in the bar area as apposed to the main restaurant area. There is no option for breakfast, which is a shame but there are some nice eateries on your doorstep. Beautiful village, lovely boutiques and a great location to stay. They were very accommodating to late checkout with no additional charge and we had free parking on site. Due to the service I’d give the restaurant 4* but the hotel side 5* & full credit to the lady who cleaned and took care of the rooms, she does an incredible job. We had a fabulous stay & will return.

I went in last Thursday for live music with a bunch of friends. The Guy was great and atmosphere lovely with lovely cocktails we all really enjoyed it - definitely recommend it to visit. The best thank you

Beautiful comfortable room in good location. Reading all of the reviews on this site made us somewhat disappointed as they mention delicious breakfasts, attentive staff and wonderful dinners. Checking in and out is now contactless. We did meet a member of staff who caught sight of us on arrival but didn’t see anyone again during our 2 night stay. Can’t fault the room or its facilities but no information in the room and no restaurant. Everywhere closed. Good restaurants nearby fortunately.
