Mimi Calpe

This property is extremely beautiful, an 1800s home converted into a hotel. The suite we stayed in was a 2 bedroom. It was comfortable with the exception that I would have liked a small sitting area. There is a tiny deck, however, as well as a patio with seating. The gardens were gorgeous, I wish I could have seen it in the late spring when the wisteria would be in bloom! The breakfasts were delicious. Youssef and the rest of the staff were incredibly kind and helpful, nothing was too much to ask. Be aware that there are many steps around the property, it might not be right for infirm visitors.

From the staff to the location to the rooms and everything you can imagine it is just amazing If you plan a trip to Tanger and want to be close to the old city then this is the place for you. We had one dinner and it was so delicious, the breakfast was awesome. Warm and kind people there.

What a charming and elegant little hotel!! We loved it! The location is excellent and the hotel itself and staff were welcoming and super friendly. We had dinner at the hotel the first night, it was delicious! We will highly recommend Mimi Calpe to anyone visiting Tanger!

This is old world charm at its best. It is like staying in someone’s beautiful and well loved home. The staff are very kind and accommodating, especially Youssef who is the manager. We really enjoyed our stay here. We were here for three nights. Breakfast is generous, plentiful and included. Dinner is on request and also Very good but it’s not Michelin star place. They serve decent wine, not always the case in Morocco. You can also make your own drinks in their kitchen with duty free purchases! We totally did that. You can play your own music at dinner which we also loved.. There are alot of stairs as you enter so not good for mobility issues. Probably not good for older folks. Though all luggage is happily lifted and carried for you. The garden is just magnificent with flowing bourganvillea everywhere and a lovely view to the ocean. We were warned about street noise but it was very slight. We were not upset by it. This is a hotel that tells a story of old Tangiers. If you want five start comforts and a place where every door goes click, the Hilton would suit you better. Mimi Calpe is a hotel of character and distinction, a wonderful remove from commercialised travel.

My wife and I stayed at Mimi Calpe for three nights in September. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is charming, located among trees and tropical plants. The complex surrounds an old French villa - there are rooms and suites there and around the property. It does involve a lot of steps, so you might want to be sure where your room is located. Youssef, the manager, and his team are excellent and ready to help in any way. We ate dinner, two lunches, and breakfasts - the food is outstanding. Highly recommended.

Be prepared for a run down old house where dust and car fumes are prevalent. Also, no air conditioning on a sweltering day. If you are a bohemian, you will love it—anyone else, there are better places to stay. Also, lots of stairs and when you go outside you are bombarded by chaos.
