Great place, near the station and the traditional bath are great. A bit too many tourist around takayama for my taste but the stay was relaxing and the room had a view.

I recently enjoyed a fantastic staycation at a hotel featuring a beautiful onsen, and it was exactly what I needed! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a serene atmosphere. The onsen was a highlight of my stay—immersing myself in the soothing hot springs while surrounded by nature was incredibly rejuvenating. The hotel’s environment is simply stunning, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I took long walks in the nearby gardens, which were beautifully maintained and provided a peaceful backdrop for relaxation. One thing to note is the parking fee of 1100 yen per night ( from 2pm) , which I found reasonable considering the convenience. Overall, this staycation was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy some tranquility. I can’t wait to return for another relaxing getaway!

It is a good choice if you want hotel in good location and have private onsen.

This hotel exceeded our expectation! It is very near the Nohi Bus station and the JR Takayama station (3-5 min walk). Although we just stayed overnight, we had a memorable experience in Takayama Ouan. The hotel has a lot of freebies for their guests. They have a booth in the lobby where guests can get free brewed coffee, hot tea, and green lemon iced tea. They also provide free socks since the hotel have tatami flooring. What we also loved about this hotel is the onsen (separate public onsen for male and female, and 3 private onsen). They also have a freezer where guests can get free iced cream after bathing. During past 9 pm, they also have free ramen for their guests. The room is spacious, and the view from our window is also nice (the roads and establishments covered with snow). Aside from the free stuff and great amenities, we also appreciate the kind and friendly staff members. We accidentally lost the luggage claim tag (and we are willing to pay for it) but they didn't charge us anything. When we go back to Takayama, we will definitely stay here again.

Location was nearby a train station. Onsen have 3 types of private rooms to choose. The public onsen are much better in my opinion. Breakfast was good, with a variety of choices. Stayed for 2 nights. Recommended.

Wonderfully located. Within walking distance from shopping, dining attractions. Love the onsen facilities. Even the onsen for legs soaking at the entrance of the hotel. Highly recommended

free ramen is good! Tatami for all floor, so have to take off the shoes when enter hotel, but hotel provide free socks in case you don’t want naked feet

I recently had a stay at the Takayama Ouan Hotel, and I wanted to share my experience. Overall, I found it to be a very pleasant and comfortable place to stay, with some standout features. One of the first things I noticed upon arrival was the hotel's proximity to Takayama Station – it was incredibly convenient, just a short walk away, which made exploring the town very easy. The hotel has a traditional Japanese vibe right from the entrance, where you're asked to remove your shoes and store them in a locker, a practice I found added to the cozy and clean atmosphere. The tatami flooring throughout the common areas felt nice underfoot. My room was a good size, clean, and well-equipped with the usual amenities, including a comfortable Western-style bed, which was a welcome change after some traditional stays. I also appreciated the tea-making facilities. While some reviews mention the rooms might feel a little dated to some, I found mine perfectly adequate and comfortable for my needs. The onsen facilities were definitely a highlight of my stay. The rooftop baths offered amazing views of the surrounding mountains, especially during the evening – it was incredibly relaxing. There were also several types of baths to enjoy, both public and private. I made sure to try the private onsen, which was a lovely experience. After a soak, the hotel provides free ice cream, a small but delightful touch! Breakfast was another positive aspect. The buffet had a good mix of Western and Japanese options, including some local specialties like Hida beef, which was a great way to start the day. I also enjoyed the free ramen offered in the evenings – a nice little snack before bed. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, although some guests have noted that English communication can be a bit limited at times. However, I found them to be very hardworking and attentive to guests' needs. While the hotel was quite busy during my visit, it still maintained a calm and organized atmosphere. It seems to be a popular choice for tour groups, but this didn't detract significantly from my personal experience.

This hotel is centrally located, just next to the Mercure. You leave your shoes in a locker and walk along the common areas barefooted or wearing socks. It's quite a hassle putting on shoes in the reception area to leave the hotel. The drawback of this system is that some guests remove the shoe cabinet keys when they check out. There's a pair of sandals in the room which you wear when you go to the toilet. This is different from other hotels in Japan where you can wear the sandals around the hotel. Location is quite near to JR station and Nohi bus centre. Staff is quite friendly. Breakfast is nice and many variety. There is 3 private onsen too.
