The Occidental Hotel

We a family of 3 stayed here for 4nights in an en-suite family room (queen+single+single). The room is spacious as per photo. The toilet is clean with good water pressure (only took time 5-10min for hot water to arrive with the running taps). Sheets were clean and they even supplied fresh towels on day 3. The only minor setback was the carpeted floor seems worn, fortunately we brought our own sandals which made our own expensive more comfortable. Check-in was through the bar tender on duty while check-out was just a breeze (just key drop). Location wise it’s perfect within walking distance to Darling Harbour, Opera House, etc. Tram and trains (Wynyard Stn) readily available within less than a 5min walk making it super convenient. Since it’s in CBD, do expect some noise for the street below but it was fine with us. Will definitely stay again if visiting Sydney. As a host myself, I can confirm it’s a gem. You can find a better place to stay at the rates they are offering..

The location is the biggest selling point, which is close to any sight that a mainstream tourist wanna go. A real old but gold heritage itself.

If you like charming ole-timey hotels, this is the hotel for you! The doors require keys and the shared bathroom reminds me of a vintage hair parlor. The tv had one channel but my view was exceptional. The bar downstairs was an after work vibe. This hotel was a unique experience

Whilst we had some trepidation as the hotel below was thought to be a little noisy it turned out to be exactly the opposite. It was a great location right next to Wynard Station so travel was not a problem and Darling Harbour eats were just a pleasant stroll away.  The toons were basic but that’s to be expected at the price point but saying that, they missed nothing and the beds were firm and allowed for a great night’s sleep.  We highly recommend the hotel if visiting Sydney and want value for money, a great location and an around great stay.

Central location and price were the two reasons for booking this accommodation. Our room was right next to only lift serving five levels so very noisy. Expected traffic noise but not the extra noise through the day and night. Service was below par I asked if we could change rooms and no one got back to me the next day. Sheets were clean bed was comfortable but carpets dirty and window blind broken so light woke you up early if the lift noise hadn’t already. Only given one set of keys and I came with a friend so also a negative.
