One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. I chose the most expensive room type, so the price wasn’t even cheap. The only advantage was the location, which is indeed convenient—but there are plenty of other hotels nearby, so this alone isn’t a strong reason to book. I urge future guests to think twice. Overall, the experience was incredibly disappointing:
(1) The lobby, elevator, and hallways looked more like a rundown guesthouse. The photos on the hotel website are heavily edited and nothing like the real environment. Most bizarrely, the hallway lights are turned off from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., which is completely unreasonable. On my first night after sightseeing, I opened the elevator door and was genuinely spooked—it felt like entering a sketchy love hotel. The place is already outdated, and they won't even turn on the hallway lights. It’s honestly surreal.
(2) The room was extremely worn down. The flooring and facilities were old, and the carpet near the entrance was torn. The space lacked any feeling of cleanliness or comfort, which made me feel uneasy—I didn’t even want to touch anything. The room in person was much dimmer and more dated than the photos suggested, with dark, aged wood throughout.
(3) To make things worse, there were hairs left uncleaned on the wall near the sink. The bathroom door was also very old—I didn’t even want to touch it. It was just plain gross.
(4) Stayed for 5 days and 4 nights, but there was no hot water for showers on the last two nights. The first night I tolerated it because the front desk said maintenance staff could only come in the morning. But it happened again the next night! When I went down to complain, they said it had supposedly been fixed earlier that day and they didn’t know what the issue was this time. I was told I’d need to wait another day for maintenance. All they could offer was an apology. The staff were polite, but completely unhelpful. The whole situation felt hopeless. Honestly, employees shouldn’t have to work under conditions like this—it’s a vicious cycle.
In summary, this hotel made me never want to visit Sydney again. I would never recommend it to a friend. Please consider carefully—there are plenty of better options in Sydney. For over a thousand dollars per night, I massively regret booking here. It affected my entire trip. Sometimes I’d get tired during the day but couldn’t even relax back at the hotel—it was that uncomfortable. I’d rather sit in a random café than return to my room. I didn’t take a single photo in the room because I couldn’t stand it. The only picture I took was of the bizarrely dark hallway, just to show my friends how absurd it was that I paid this much for a glorified motel. The happiest moment of my stay was checking out and finally leaving this baffling excuse for a hotel.
