Fairly cheap but a bit outdated and fairly budget. Not super clean when we arrived, the bathroom mirror was filthy which made us wonder what else hadn’t been cleaned. Location was ok, comfortable enough, had decent nights sleeps. Wet room set up for shower. Had a kettle but no mugs, though were given tankards when we asked. Staff English was ok and they friendly on front desk. Mr Soon who is a tuk tuk driver based from the hotel did us a tour and he was amazing. Overall ok, for a few budget nights to explore Battambang.

We had a wonderful day with Mr. Khem Ry. We did a tour of the best places in Battambang. He spoke English really well and had some useful information about the places we got to. He was kind and had a nice tuktuk. We really enjoined our day. Would recommend!

The room was quiet, spacious, clean, & the beds were comfortable. The hotel staff were very helpful, going above & beyond in their service! They very kindly took the initiative to call Giant Ibis Express after hours to arrange pickup for us, from the hotel to the bus terminal, when they found out we had not made this arrangement. This was despite the fact that we had booked our bus tickets ourselves, and not through Royal Hotel. The hotel actually arranges tours & transportation, which we would have gladly booked through them, had we known earlier. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel, and will definitely stay there should we visit Battambang again.

What a magical day! We booked a tour with Mr. Khem Ry through our hotel and he was great 👍 He was incredibly kind with great humour! The tour was adjusted for what we wanted to do on the day and we did it all in perfect timing. He was patient throughout the day and gave great information for each stop. Would recommend to anyone ✨

Mr. Khem Ry was our tour guide for a half-day tour of Battambang. We went with him to a temple, the Bamboo Trains, the Killing Caves and the Bat Caves . On the way there we stopped for some sights, which he explained to us and gave us the opportunity to take photos. He was very friendly, funny and well informed. The tour with him was a lot of fun. We can definitely recommend it. Thank you very much! 🥰🥰

I would stay in this Hotel purely just to meet and get a chance to get a tour from the TukTuk driver - the reliable Mr. Philay, he is the best and one of the kindest, most thoughtful and cheerful people we have ever met. We feel lucky that we got a chance to get brought around to see all the sights and hear his stories, very inspiring. If you are reading this I would strongly encourage you to take opportunity to explore Battambang with Mr Philay you won’t regret it!

We write this review for our super guide Mr. Khem Ry ☺️🙏🏻 We went in Battambang for two days and he make a wonderful and very instructive guided tour through, around Battambang and his countryside. He showed us and explained us a lot about about the city, temples or rituals (there were a funeral at the time we came), plants and nature in a very good english. He was also very kind with our little 4 years old son that often played monkey in the tuk-tuk 👍🏻😉 Thanks to you Khem Ry 🙏🏻☺️🥰 Caroline, Marc and Merlin

I stayed at Royal hotel for 3 weeks. It is the oldest hotel in Battambang, but has kept amazingly up to date. The rooms are still beautifully light and airy, but have the traditional wood furniture which makes it feel authentically Khmer but bright. The wide is excellent and the air con nice and coolThe staff are so friendly and easier to please. Any small difficulty was met with an apology and immediate solved: no waiting for a solution. I have stayed in many hotels all through SE Asia and Cambodia, but this is one of the best. It is right beside the Riverside walk and the central market. Only 2 to 3 minutes slow walk from station and bus terminals, though they send a free tuktuk to collect you at the bus arrival time you give. This is a hotel with 45 rooms but is not run by a big foreign company. It is owned and run by a local Khmer family. These people need our support with large hotels opening all around. Why spend more on a chain hotel when you can get high quality for a low price. The photos they show are rrue representatives of the rooms you get.

Very nice hotel tucked away in a quiet neighborhood west of the market. Very clean and everything worked. Great value and convenient location. Friendly staff bed was comfortable. Hot water and Wi-Fi good. TV didn't cooperate but didn't need it. Will visit again.
