I met family from Australia here and we had a very good evening. The service was first class and food was excellent, particularly the dessert, see pic below!!!!My overnight stay was also very good and the breakfast next day was great.

Good location for Alton Towers, but not much nearby.
Service was mixed - duty managers were good and very helpful. Bar staff were average, breakfast staff were below average. They only have one member of staff for breakfast, which is not great if there are more than a few guests. They also charge extra for hash browns in the full English breakfast. The hotel room and restaurant were clean and tidy. Rooms do not have air con and the heating was on high, no way to turn down the radiators without assistance, but unfortunately the reception closes at around 10pm. Overall our stay was adequate but we probably won't be returning.

Fantastic local accommodation. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and comfy. The on-site bar and dining was also very good. We enjoyed fresh ingredients and good quality food on all of our visits. The staff were fantastic here too!
Overall an excellent choice of local accommodation, reasonably close to nearby attractions. We highly recommend.

Hotel is beautiful inside, modern, clean and cared for. Staff were so kind and made me feel very welcome. Breakfast was excellent, good local produce and made with proper ingredients. The rooms are quiet with no noise, big TV, biscuits, teas, coffee, shower, bath. Setting is also wonderful, nestled amongst fields, farms and the river Dove. Idyllic village of sudbury is within walking distance and the market town of Uttoxeter is just 10mins away.

Been to this fabulous country pub with great food many times and never disappointed with the quality of the food and the friendly and welcoming staff always happy to help - if you live in the area or are just passing through- it’s a definite must to call in

A lovely place to have Sunday lunch. We could not fault the service or the food. Lovely surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere. We all had a traditional Sunday roast which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be visiting again.

Stayed for two nights, room 3. First impressions were good when we arrived. Warm welcome as we entered. Check in was quick, was given directions to all aspects of the pub, restaurant, bar, room etc. the room was very clean and well laid out with all you’d require. Friendly staff in the bar. We ate there too and the food was very good. Breakfast had a wide choice of options and the food was very good and blood it. Very nice stay for a long weekend. Would recommend.

Lovely staff all round. Great quiet location with good views. Nice building. Stayed in one of the rooms on the main floor and felt they could do with updating but were very practical and clean nonetheless. Lovely big telly and comfy beds. Only complaint was the squeaky floorboards up above which did mean being disturbed during the night and in the morning. May need to consider putting new floorboards down to fix this. This would prevent me from staying again but did not detract from the rest of our stay.

The food is honestly awful, I would have enjoyed a meal deal more! Ordered a chicken yakitori - while this sounds promising it is nothing more than 4 bits of dry chicken along some peppers and onions on a stick. It comes with 2 sides, onion rings were FULL of oil. The best bit was the sweet potato chips and they were soggy as hell. We also had a chicken Caesar salad, bland what looked like boiled chicken and soggy croutons. Again, ordered chips as a side and I think that was the best bit. Complained and got a 50% off the meal, couldn’t be bothered to argue with it as just wanted to get out of there but wow the food really is shocking!! I would not recommend it
