Premier Inn Manchester Old Trafford

No surprises, no delights. As expected so we booked a practical location, with parking ( didn’t realise overnight fee is £6 as often it’s free at Premier inn for overnight guests) and standard amenities. Bathroom shower curtains had some smell otherwise standard cleanliness. Breakfast a slight miss as most Premier Inn can do a better cooked English full breakfast. Given our purpose and location of hotel, we would stay again.

Wow where do I start? As soon as we entered reception? Myself and my wife and my seven-year-old daughter and three-year-old daughter were made to feel welcome by Debbie who is a credit to Premier Inn , our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We paid for breakfast and they were lovely and there was a very good range of cooked food and fruit yoghurts and plenty of different cereals and drinks. We also had meals in the restaurant both nights we stayed and the food was very good and there was very good selection on the menu. Also the restaurant staff are amazing, they were all so kind and helpful. All the staff we encountered, there were very friendly and a shout out to the Cleaners they were very friendly and very good at their job. We will definitely be revisiting.

Very loud maintenance work- banging and drilling- started early in the morning in the room next to us, waking us up and then disturbing us while trying to shower and get ready. It was a horrible start to the day. When we spoke to reception about this, they shrugged it off and said that work was permitted to be carried out after 8am. Charming.

Had a hospital appointment so had travelled a very long way. It was easy to find and good location to the hospital itself, only 15 mins away. Room was spacious, cheap and cheerful. As expected for a premier inn the bed was comfy and we didn’t experience any big issues. We did the meal deal which was good value and our toddler ate breakfast free. Food all tasty and plentiful. The only thing worth mentioning to improve upon was the cleanliness of the bath, I needed to give it a clean myself before bathing my child. Hair and dirt mostly. Hence the 4 stars not 5.

Good points, comfy bed & food. Staff helpful. Bad points, Rooms dated and in need of a refurbishment. Bathroom ceiling had flaking paint on it. Bath overflow cover fell off when my wife pulled the bath plug and fell into the bath. Black mould in the bath, around the overflow pipework. We were tired and it was late so we left it till the morning to complain. The manager, french( I think) agreed the room should not be used and took it out of service. He said the issues could not be fixed untill they are reported by guests but sureky the cleaners would see the flaking paint and the overflow would just fall off during cleaning. He said if I wanted a better standard of room I should have booked premier plus. I said I shouldn't have too as normally rooms are of a good standard and adequate. I paid £130 for each night which is a lot and felt I shouldn't have had to pay for the first night. We were given premier plus for 2nd night which was nice of hotel to do but wifi did not work unless you stood with the door open to connect but it would disconnect when back in room. I was given a code to try the higher grade of WiFi but this didn't work either. Maybe I was just unlucky but hotel defo in need of an upgrade. Just noticed a half £58 refund for first night in my bank but no correspondence from Premier Inn. I feel i should have been given a full refund for the first night considering the disgusting mess in the bathroom. Have a look at the photos and you will see what I mean. Sorry for the poor review but it needs to be said.
