The best ski resort in Southern Vermont. Fast lifts and tons of snowmaking, good terrain, and fantastic grooming. The only reason this review is 3/5 stars is the PRICES. This place is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. When we first started coming here 10 years ago, a plate of chicken tenders was $11. Now it is $24. TWENTY-FOUR DOLLARS for a plate of four tenders and fries. Thankfully we have a friend who uses his employee discount to buy us food. But it is insane to try and squeeze so much cash out of your guests. It dampens the entire experience. For a family of four, you could easily spend $125 for lunch with a meal, a snack, and a drink for each person. For some families, that is a weeksworth of groceries. You'd better buy sandwich supplies at the grocery store and just bring food to the mountain with you in a cooler bag. It's a pain, but at least you'll be able to retire someday if you plan on that.

Ok, there are a few things to know about Stratton up front. From the beginning, Stratton has always (unapologetically) catered to affluent (some say entitled) families from the NY/NJ/CT areas. Food is expensive. Accommodations are expensive (but not so outside the area). The resort does not reside next to a village or town, so Stratton has created its own euro-style 'village' right next to the slopes. The boutiques and restaurants tend to be high end, reflecting the shopping habits of its guests. Despite the high bar of an expensive Stratton visit, most of the services like ski school, lifts, snow making, etc. are as good and sometimes better than other VT ski resorts. Note: The dated base lodge can be very crowded with the lunch time experience being overwhelming unpleasant. Regarding accommodations, the resort runs heavy on the condo side and light on hotel availability. If you are staying for just a weekend or two, your best bet is to stay next to the mountain in a hotel (call resort services). But there are not a lot of choices. Staying for a week? Probably rent a condo through Stratton guest services. Some are ski in-ski out. Others may require a drive to the mountain. Most are, again, high-end and $$ while some are more reasonably priced. It's your perogative. In summary, Stratton is a good fit for families but if you are visiting for the first time, be aware of the cost of things.

Stayed across the street in a Condo. Wonderful view! Easy walk across the street (if you don't mind that NO ONE stops for pedestrians). But, the heated spa and pool were crowded with kids and the water was cloudy and green (a sign of over usage). The lodge, the buildings, and campus in general are tired, in some cases falling apart - and, this was Thanksgiving week. Some locations are permanently closed. And why are there real estate offices in the prime locations? Eats Mulligan's - Eat here, drink here, get sushi here. It gets very crowded 6-7 ish. Food was good. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. Grizzly's - at mountain base, overly crowded, food was blah, service times very long. Market & Deli - Wow! Talk about sticker shock. You pay 100%+ normal retail prices in this place. Crazy! There is a coffee/food shop connected but we walked out after waiting behind 2 lift workers who were just chatting about other co-workers. Benedict's - this place just opened when they wanted. Seriously, we couldn't figure it out. One day they were open for breakfast but not the next. Bar 802 - was never open when we were there. Fire Tower - Great place with good food. Service at the bar was excellent. Shopping I've never been to a place where almost every store is selling the identical stuff. But, if you're killing time it's always interesting to look. My guess is that you'll end up going here if you want a ski vacation with the family. Just set your expectations appropriately.

Please don't go by the Website. This place is a ghost town from Monday to Wednesday and not much activity rest of the week.Restaurants are not worth eating. There is no management worth mentioning. It's a beautiful place. I hope a new owner take interest and fix the place. Very nice workers on the ground.

We thoroughly enjoyed the mountain. In the past we've rented frm the mountain, but this time we rented through a private owner on AirBnB and what super pleasant change. The condo was cleaner, the furniture updated, the kicyhjen had all utentsil and glassware...super nice

Just returned from a two day ski trip to Stratton. Stayed at Long Trail House - great location - a short walk to the lifts - and very comfortable room. The check in experience at the Welcome Center was great. Caroline was very informative and helped us get into our unit a bit early (mid-week checkin) so that we could get in a few hours of skiing as soon as we arrived. Staff was exceptionally nice. Helped us in the parking garage, in the village, and in the base lodge. We had dinner The Fire Tower and the salmon was delicious. It was busy though so would recommend making a reservation. Had a quick outdoor lunch at the Taco/Burrito place in the village and that was terrific too. Since Covid the rules are that you can put your boots on in the Base Lodge but you have to store your bag outside on the many racks they have furnished. Apres ski in the upstairs bar looked great but we had our drinks at the Black Bear Lodge - it was called Stratton Mountain Inn years ago. They have a very limited menu in the restaurant there but the hamburger plate was very good.

Insanely crowded, very long lines for all resort services all day long. Enrolled my young kids in a half-day snowboarding lesson, they went up the magic carpet once then spent the rest of the remaining 2+ hours inside having snacks being bored. I spoke to the ski school that day and requested a refund, no response.

Drove over to Stratton VT from Albany NY last weekend and it was a lovely drive and we ended up at the mountain resort, just to spend some time enjoying the fresh snow and ski resort ambience. It was crowded but a fun place for kids and adults.

Great event - 3 Blues groups, excellent brisket BBQ plate and ten five ounce pours from numerous local breweries - all for $41.50!!! A bargain! The lovely weather on a day that was forecast to be rainy was the bonus. Mountain did a great job of setting up the tents and keeping people moving.
