Tollgate Hotel & Leisure

Fortunately we only stayed here for 1 night, breaking up the journey from South to North. Having checked in we asked if the bar was open for a drink and food, and was told it wasnt, so we therefore had to find somewhere else to eat, which wasnt the original plan. It would have been nice to know before we arrived that that was the case. as for the room, it was OK at best. Tiles coming off in the bathroom, lying on the beds felt like it was going to collapse at any time, the heating was on max when we walked in after finally finding somewhere to eat. The hotel, or more like a motel, did its job, but would I stay again, no, and I was glad it was only a 1 night stay

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HELL HOLE!!! YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO PAY TO STAY HERE. NO HEATING, OLD CLOTHES IN THE BROKEN WARDROBES, COLLASPED BEDS, MOULDY PILLOWS, MOULDY WALLS AND FILTHY DIRTY AND STAFF THAT COULDNT GIVE A TOSS!!! IF WE CIULD HAVE FOUND SOMEWHERE ELSE AT SHORT NOTICE WE WOULD HAVE LEFT!!

Excellent experience at the Tollgate Hotel,brilliant entertainment delicious food and very friendly staff highly recommended. The Bar looked beautifully decorated and drinks were very reasonable and excellent service ideal for all different occasions.

Thoroughly enjoyed New Years Eve at the Tolgate . Excellent buffet food , reasonable priced drinks ,cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Great entertainment with Katie and George lots of singing and dancing . Brilliant night had by all and highly recommend for any occasion.

Awful few days. I’m staying here through work and can honestly say this is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Shower is but a dribble of hot water,the other guests have 0 thought for anyone else,kids screaming and running about and banging doors pre 6.00am other guests coughing there guts up outside your bedroom window pre 6.00am smoking away. The hotel doesn’t serve food only alcohol as they lost their chef. Car park is strewn with rubbish. The previous guest of the room I’m in had left half used shower gel and shampoo in the bath. Not cleaned up by the housekeepers before I checked in. None of the radiators in the room work so bring a spare jumper.

Firstly id like to thank the Lady who seemed to be running reception and bar and cook at Breakfast. She worked everywhere and looked exhausted. Never ever have we stayed in such a terrible Hotel. The room smelt needed a darn good clean the mattress was so well used it was ready for the bin. The window frames were black with mould and dont think had been touched for a long time. the whole place needed a deep clean. The bin situation that were very close to our room were overflowing with rubbish and food waste. A rat haven. Some of the rooms were occup[ied by homeless people via the government scheme and not hotel guests using it as a hotel should be used. Please do not book and waste your money.
