Skanstulls Boutique Hostel

My husband and I stayed in a private room, which was clean and fairly roomy. We enjoyed the breakfast which was perfect to get us through until lunchtime. There is a well equipped kitchen and common area, for drinks in the evening. Will stay again when we come to Stockholm.

I stayed in this hostel because a friend (male friend) had recommended it to me. He said it was a nice hostel, where he met nice people, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Well, I would recomend it to another friend, but I would say different things. It is an average building for a hostel, I didn't met many interesting people (if compared to others hostels stays in my life) and I wouldn't say the staff is helpful because I barely saw anyone who worked there, and I didn't need help during my stay. I would recommend Skanstulls hostel for the quality of the beds and the girls bathroom. The rooms and the kitchen are small, but the girls bathroom is big enough to be used by 4 or 5 girls at the same time (this was the maximum I saw), and we have enough space to put our things and hang our towels. There are 2 hairdryers too, and they are good. I am used to stay in hostels, and I miss hairdryer frequently... Some friends told me to buy a small travel hairdryer, but I am so lazy to carry one with me.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Skanstulls Hostel for 2 nights at the end of March in a 12 person shared room for our first ever visit to Sweden. As we are both students, we were looking for somewhere cheap to stay and came across this hostel whilst searching online. The pictures looked lovely, and I can confirm that the hostel itself does live up to the pictures it posts. The layout is almost maze-like, predominantly below ground level, giving it a very personal feel, once you know your way around that is! We arrived at 3 am, having warned them of this and they stated that the beds would be premade. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case and we may have woken up others in our shared room as we were moving around to get the beds sorted. Apart from this the late arrive process is very smooth and hassle-free, although they did not include a second key and a member of staff was rather rude about this the next morning. But apart from this, our stay was great. Location-wise, it is about a 15-20 minute walk to the centre of the city, keeping it cheaper but also easily accessible. If we were to come back to Stockholm, I would not hesitate in staying at Skanstulls again

Booked a private room for myself. Skanstulls hostel is a straight way down the road from Skanstulls station. Hostel is like half a level underground so there's just a few steps down from the entrance. The room is darker than photos but still at a pleasant temperature. Spacious bathroom with good running hot water adjustable to your liking. Very pleasant staff, and if you can't check in early, they have a locked area for luggage storage right in front of the counter. Common areas are very charmingly decorated! There are eateries along the way from train station to hostel that you can buy food or coffee from. A very good experience for my first hostel stay, glad to have chosen Skanstulls!

Skanstulls Hostel was an absolute gem. With comfortable beds, secure luggage storage, onsite (paid) laundry, and a spacious guest kitchen complete with shared ingredients and cooking utensils, I immediately felt at home here. The hostel was also really nicely decorated and the staff were super helpful. The bathrooms were the cleanest out of any I have seen in Europe so far, and the shower pressure was amazing. Even better, the towels were complimentary! Skanstulls Hostel’s position in the heart of Södermalm was also a huge plus. While the hostel is within walking distance of Gämla Stan and the shopping district, it is far enough out of the tourist areas to make you feel like you’re getting a real experience of Stockholm. I will definitely be returning!

I got the solo room w/ shared bathroom. Pros - bathroom allocated for male & female - bathrooms are regularly cleaned - shared kitchen is huge & has 2 fridges, stove, microwave - there are free snacks & drinks at the kitchen - small library Cons - leaving your luggage after checkout is only allowed until 3 pm - walls are too thin, you can hear people snoring - people just leave their shoes outside the door, at the hallway

The location is great. It's very close to the train stop, and is within walking distance of many cool restaurants, bars, and other sights in Sodermalm. That said, I would not stay here again. The showers were disgusting, and were never cleaned in the week I stayed here. My room was next to the bathroom, and every time someone closed a shower door it sounded like a door slamming in my room. I was woken up by this sound multiple times both late at night and early in the morning (and I sleep with earplugs!). The sound insulation is poor in general, and it was very noisy all the time with creaky doors opening and closing. Reception is only staffed a few hours each day, so if you need anything outside of that time, your only option is to use an "emergency phone". I knew the rooms were tiny and windowless from the reviews, but the whole hostel has no windows and feels very dungeonlike.

Located very close to Skanstull metro station, the hostel is very close to nice restaurants and cafes. The hostel itself has character and is very clean and presentable. Plenty of room in the shower areas (cubicles) and separate toilets. The kitchen is a great social area to meet new people, cook your food and find out about the city.

Came here for 3 nights. It was a nice enough stay. Reasonably priced and the location was pretty good too. They would benefit from a few more showers, had to wait a couple of times when I wnated one. It wasn't very busy, so found a little difficult to socialize.
