Garni Hotel Konak

Small hotel in the center of old and tourist part of the city. Sourande with nice restaurants and gift shop, just across the oldest Serbian Ortodox Church in Sarajevo. Perfect location for sightseeing of Baščaršija. Clean room with good view.

This is a good choice if you are independent and don't need much "hand holding" since the front desk is staffed only for a few hours in the morning (checkout) and by appointment for check in (that worked fine for me). Location is walkable from the trolley bus station and airport transfers are available for a fee if arranged in advance. A very small breakfast is provided in the morning (a fried egg dish had been sliced into about two dozen postage stamp size portions, and two young guys just polished off what was intended for everybody, for themselves, taking the entire tray and sliding it onto their plates). Rooms are comfortable, clean, and air conditioning can be adjusted as needed individually. Neighborhood is safe. There is a surcharge if you want to pay the room rate by credit card. For cash, they will accept Euros for the airport transfer even though the preferred currency is the national one, Bosnian Convertible Marks (I appreciated that gesture). On balance this is a small family run hotel and the people try to provide a good value for the tourists while keeping costs down--and I say that they succeed in that. I recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again (but I'd grab the limited eggs sooner next time!).

Nur eine Nacht blieb ich in Sarajevo, aber die Wahl für das Garni Hotel Konak war eine gute. Es liegt direkt angrenzend an die Bascarsija, man ist also direkt im Leben. Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer gebucht, das im obersten Geschoss war und eher schlicht, aber dafür einen schönen Blick auf Stadt und die umliegenden Berge mit sich brachte. Das Bett war weich und bequem, so dass ich angenehm schlafen konnte. Die quietschende Straßenbahn direkt vor der Tür hat am Ende weder durch den Lärm noch die zu spürende Vibration den Schlaf gestört. Die Rezeption, an der ich Tags zuvor nett empfangen wurde, war tagsüber nicht besetzt - aber ich konnte meinen Koffer dort lassen und später abholen und den Schlüssel hinterlegen, was den morgendlichen Stadtrundgang deutlich angenehmer machte. Ich ziege ein positives Fazit und würde hier wieder übernachten. Danke!
