Located on Oceanside in Isla Bastimentos, Bocas del Toro. Casa Serenity By The Sea: Tree Frog House is the highest Cabina on the property and sits amongst the tree tops in a jungle canopy. It has a Studio Loft layout with 320 sq ft of space on the lower level and 224 sq ft of space in the upper level. It has a King size bed upstairs and a Twin size Daybed in the Living Room. Our seaside property has crystal-clear water out front with a beautiful reef for snorkeling. It is within minutes of walking distance to local surf breaks and a 25min hike to the majestic Wizard Beach. We are next door neighbors with “Reggae Bites” and “The Firefly”. Both have excellent dining in a tropical setting on the water (but they are seasonal and cash only***). Other dining options are close by around the point in Old Bank. Chill in the hammock 70’ up on the front deck or in the hammock down by the water while listening to the lapping waves and tropical birds. The hammock out front is on carabiners and can be removed for full, unobstructed use of the circular meditation clearing (we highly recommend doing this during your stay). You can easily snorkel in the clear water directly off the property via the walk-out area. Beautiful coral heads and sea life are abundant on the reef that lines Oceanside (The water is particularly clear in the “Off-Season” months of May, Sept-November. When the waves are down…the Snorkeling is UP!!! REEF BOOTIES & REEF/LOBSTER GLOVES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!) Multiple world class surf breaks on the nearby islands including Carenero Point and Paunch’s are visible from the property. Rolling luggage is NOT RECOMMENDED as the walking path you will be on is partly unpaved. The Meditation Clearing/Outdoor Hammock by the water is also communal.Also...our property is surrounded by jungle foliage, but we do have neighbors. We are tucked away on the other side of the hill, but town is pretty close by. Enjoy the rhythms of the Caribbean as they drift across the island!***Also...going to Bastimentos is like stepping into another world...500 years of Afro-Caribbean culture and history resides here that is to be respected and admired. This mixes with the indigenous Naso Tjër Di & Ngäbe-Buglé tribes that have been here for thousands of years longer. The local dialect is Guari-Guari (a mix of Creole English Patois, Spanish, and Ngäbere), and no you won't understand it...but they speak Spanish and English as well. This is a small town with kids and free-range chickens and little lazy island pups roaming about. Terracing walking paths have been carved out of the hillside that the community have used for generations...this may put a spin on the ideology of "private property"...but it also connects the people to the island in a in a very grounded way. This is an eco-friendly house. We have a rainwater catchment system and solar panels that provide 12 volt electricity with an inverter for 110 volt electricity. There are fans in all the bedrooms and the sitting area. There is a water filter as well so no need to buy bottled water. Often you will see monkeys, sloths and hummingbirds around the property. The house is three stories with incredible views of the Zapatillas islands from your front balconies and natural jungle views from the back ones. The house is breezy with its open layout and beach front location. We have an option to add daily housekeeping and our boat captain will be available to take you on any tours you’d like during your stay!The space:Make yourself at home with our fully stocked kitchen and purified drinking water that runs right from every sink faucet! The house is three stories with two bedrooms on the top floor and one on the second along with the kitchen and living area. The bottom floor is a giant covered patio that leads to the beach. There are two bathrooms. Both equipped with outdoor showers so you can enjoy the jungle or beach while you bathe yet still have ample privacy.Our house is stocked with snorkel gear, 2 two-seater kayaks, yoga mats + some workout weights for your use.Interaction with guests:Our care takers, Velimir + Fernando will be your points of contact during your stay. The house is yours to enjoy privately however, they will be available to take you on any tours or get supplies. They also are in charge of making sure all systems in the house are working great! For example, if it is a very rainy day, they may come by to start the generator to make sure you have ample power. Guests have access to the entire house and property minus the lower level studio which has its own private entrance. Don’t worry - The studio is unoccupied, so no one will interrupt your stay!The neighborhood:The Island of Bastimentos has much to offer!The house is located on a white sand beach near Salt Creek. The creek ends at a native village toward the interior of the island. This belongs to the Nobe tribe. The Nobe are your friendly neighbors and tourism helps their community grow and prosper. They are happy to show you around their community or take you on jungle hikes for a small fee that helps every family in the village.You can also walk down the beach and run into a couple other great resorts and stop by for a drink! Al Natural is known for their scuba expeditions and we'd be happy to set you up for a dive. Azul Paradise is open for drinks + dining with advanced notice. Please note: the island is full of life! You will have people and animals roaming the beaches. It’s part of our wonderful community and culture. Stop and say hi, buy the daily catch or a tasty coconut!Getting around:This is a remote island. The only way to travel is by boat. There are water taxis available while in Bocas Town or we are happy to arrange travel from our own boats as well. Pick up and drop off from Bocas airport is $160 round trip. We will take you to the grocery to stock up on supplies as well! The boat ride to Bay of the Floating Palms is approximately 30-45 minutes.Other things to note:Remember, this is island life - living off the grid!
