Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing

agoOh my goodness, what an oasis sitting out in the middle nowhere!!! Was quite a trek to get there from Jasper, a lot of which was along single track roads hugging the side of the hillside. My husband, who did the driving, loved it!! Boy was it worth it though. Tyax Lodge is gorgeous, a rustic log cabin design full of style and charm. The rooms are to die for, very comfortable and modern. Beautifully decorated with lovely shower toiletries the bathroom. The food was amazing and the staff were too. It was very hot whilst we were there and we were never without ice cold water that was continuously topped up. The scenery and lakeside is beautiful, the water is so clear. My husband took advantage of the free canoe and thoroughly enjoyed himself. We took advantage of the availability to hire the seaplane fir a half hour tour around the area - it was amazing albeit a bit of an extravagance. Wild humming birds were an absolute joy to watch and Fenwick the cat was a great surprise - I would have liked to have brought him home with us. We would certainly come back if we got the opportunity.

I did not want to leave! The lakeview room was beautiful and had such a wonderful view of Tyaughton Lake. The facilities and amenities are all 5-star - I unfortunately didn't have enough time to experience the Spa but it looked beautiful with lots of options for relaxing. I can't wait to come back.

We had a fabulous time at Tyax. The views, the accommodations, the lake and the friendly staff made our visit memorable and extremely comfortable. Canoes, paddle boards and kayaks, ideal lake swimming, sauna, hot tub and one of the most comfortable beds.... we look forward to staying at the lodge again and again.

I came here with my Dad to celebrate his 65th birthday. We came here almost 20yrs ago and it’s still just as beautiful as I remember. The staff were helpful and friendly, had a menu of special treats I could order for my dad’s birthday celebration and were able to veganise 4 of the dishes on the menu which were delicious and much appreciated. The spa, sauna, massage treatments were unavailable which is a shame and the rooms need air con or a fan as it was too hot to sleep at times but overall a fantastic stay and I hope to return again. Tyax is a very special place.

The journey to the hotel is along a mostly gravel road that if your not fully confident on such driving (4x4 recommend) not for you! That said, we ventured on and a thrilling experience indeed, upon arriving at the lodge a wonderful lodge on the lake. Rooms are spacious and as you would expect for such a place. The dining experience was limited to say the least due to the season ending but the staff truly helpful and knowledgeable. The main lodge and bar is a lovely place to hang out and view the magnificent scenery. We had a great time using the free canoes on the lake. Many local walks and activities if needed. If you can, book a room facing the lake as the rear rooms have no view. Thanks for a lovely stay and experience.

Wanted to make a dinner reservation was refused because the guests might want to eat in the restaurant. Incredibly disappointing. When Gus Able was the proprietor we wouldn’t have had this issue. In a day and age when an establishment refuses clientele I wish I had their money. DISAPPOINTING!!!
