Upon arriving at 4PM at the Springfield Econo Lodge, we were informed that our 2 Queen room, for which we prepaid 6 months in advance, was unavailable. We had clear receipt showing what we purchased. As a group of 3 non-related adults, we could not sleep in 1 bed. Staff were polite but firm, and did not provide any solutions (e.g. a 2nd, free room). Later, I read that it's relatively common on popular weekends for some hotels to bump customers who booked rooms at lower prices, so they can resell the room for much more. I'm sure this is what happened here. They simply bumped me because they could charge twice as much last-minute. I spent hours on the phone trying to solve this, but ultimately had to book another room at another hotel for a huge premium. Beware! My family will never stay with Econo Lodge again. Anywhere. This Econo Lodge location is minimal motel experience, providing bare necessities, plain box building, horrible location, no grounds to speak of.
