Ilfracombe House Hotel - Near Cliffs Pavilion

What a find! Have just enjoyed 4 nights at this adorable Hotel. Reminiscence of holidays with my parents as a child. Lovely welcome from Dennis, who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful regarding places for us to visit. The owners were away but had left the hotel in very capable hands. All the staff at this family run Hotel are efficient, and welcoming, they are extremely helpful and attentive. Accommodation is very clean and comfortable, breakfast is exceptional, well cooked hot food. We invited family for dinner and they were impressed. A huge thank you to Dennis and all the family who were on duty during our stay. We highly recommend this Hotel.

After reading the reviews we were really looking forward to our stay. The staff were very friendly and we were able to use the small carpark at the back of the hotel. Our room was number 19. The door was VERY difficult to open and the decor was tired and dated. Half of the bulbs of the ceiling lights didn't work, there was a hole in one of the net curtains, a couple of curtain hooks were missing and the rail for the shower curtain was loose. On the positive side, the ensuite bathroom is prettily tiled, the bed was very comfortable and bed linen clean. For breakfast we had boiled eggs and toast which was very acceptable. Overall, the hotel could definitely do with some remodernization and some TLC. I'm afraid we won't be returning.

Stayed for one night to see a show at the Cliffs Pavilion which is a short stroll to along the seafront . The hotel is really comfortable , clean and the staff really cannot do enough for you . We were made to feel at home and really looked after . Cannot recommend enough , there are no negatives from us . There is parking also . The breakfast was really good . We will definitely be returning in the future .

Lovely people very friendly and the breakfast was lovely. They were very accommodating. Hotel House was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. It would be nicer if they bough some new leather settees for the rooms. The were worn and torn. But I would definitely stay here again. Family business are the best.

If we could give the Ilfracombe House Hotel an 11 out of 10, we would. The accommodations are exceptional, spacious, private, clean, modern, and beautiful, and the lengths that the owners and staff go to in order to make sure that you are happy is just wonderful. Bertie, Drita, Erold, Denis and the rest of the staff (almost all family) are very helpful, informative, and warm. A small but cozy lobby bar is usually open until late, especially with nearby events happening. DO NOT MISS the Full English Breakfast (daily). Airport transport by private car is also available for an additional fee for those that do not wish to brave multiple trains with luggage. STAY HERE if you want your every expectation to be surpassed. This was our second stay here and we are already planning multiple returns. Southend, Westcliff, and Leigh are all wonderful for shopping, dining, and sightseeing and this hotel is a quick walk to both Southend Central and Westcliff train stations, for less than an hour trip into London (Fenchurch Street). The Westcliff and Southend High Streets, Southend Pier, and Cliffs Pavillion are an easy walk as well.

Stayed in this hotel for one night as we were attending a concert at the Cliffs Pavillon, also was wife’s birthday. What a great find this was, all staff are very friendly and efficient. Small car park at rear of hotel, which we.were able to use, but if it is full they give you permit for street parking. Our room was extremely clean and good size, with all amenities, kettle,coffee and tea, large screen tv, comfortable bed and settee.The shower in bathroom also very good size, was superb. Nice comfortable bar/lounge, where we had a pleasant drink before venturing out. The breakfast was exceptional, table service, very attentive server, full English with freshly cooked poached eggs, as much tea coffee and fruit juice as you wanted. Although only live about half an hour away, would not hesitate to book again if attending event in Southend.

Unfortunately breakfast was dire! We didn't get a choice of breakfast. Very poor plate if food. Serviced very quickly, not relaxing Microwaved scrambled eggs, cheap sausage, tinned tomato, barely toasted cheap white bread! Bed not breakfast, best go out for breakfast. Owner was friendly but over sold quality of breakfast.

A well run family friendly hotel I stayed for 11 nights and was treated very well. Bertie and his family are kind, considerate and very friendly The breakfast is excellent and there's table service. Dennis, was in charge of serving the breakfasts and the quality of the food was excellent. The carpark is small but Dennis aided me to safely park It is a smallish hotel but gives excellent value for money and I happily recommend it, you won't be disappointed. Don't have expectations of accommodation like the Ritz but you're not paying Ritz prices! Many thanks to Bertie and his team for making my stay very pleasant.

Lovely friendly hotel - 5 mins walk to Cliffs Pavilion. Bertie and his family made us very welcome and went above and beyond. Full English breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend and definitely would stay again. Room was very modern - beds very comfortable and shower amazing. Couldn't fault it.
