Bushmans Retreat Motor Inn

Older motel from 1960’s with basic facilities and very noise due to proximity to highway and truck pull overs. Repainted recently but original bathrooms Our room was set up with multiple beds which made it cramped Only 2.5 star standard at best

This is the budget hotel and the price indicates the facilities and cleanliness level you get. We drove past this little town, only due to the nearby Tesla supercharge station, Checked in at 11pm, slept then left in the morning. Stayed in a four people room. Everything very basic and dated, especially the bathroom check out the photos yourself. Aircon is VERY loud. Trucks driving pass right next to the motel also can wake those light sleepers up during the night.

We made a very last minute booking on our drive from Melbourne to Sydney, now knowing which town we'd spend the night. Yes, the rooms are basic but had everything. It was great to come into a pre-heated room, have a great shower with amenities provided and, aside from the kettle and toaster, there was a microwave, dinner plates and cutlery. We could warm up our left overs that we brought along and not try to find food at 9.30pm. Slept well and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Great place for a stop-over. Would definitely stay again.

Rooms although budget and old they were spotless. The check in was late but we were greeted with a smile and welcome. If you just need a bed for the night it’s just off the Hume highway south Gundagai. We were booked at the Ticker box inn but they let our room out by mistake with no ownership or apology .

Stayed for 1 night in June 22. Being freezing we had to use the air con which was noisy and not very effective. 2 of the 3 beds had electric blankets which was nice, unfortunately I got the third bed and struggled to stay warm. Overall room was very dated to the point of being a bit run down. Location didn’t bother us as it was just a bed for the night but it is kind of in the middle of nowhere a few km from the centre of town. For what we paid for the room I expected more

I don’t really stay in motels very much – and certainly not three stars. However circumstances conspired and I ended up at the Bushmans Retreat in South Gundagai. Very dated but clean and functional. A very comfortable bed and a hot, strong shower. Unpretentious but good value for money
