The experience was awesome. Hosts were fantastic for information about the area. The village was so wonderful. Just seeing the country from the advantage point of the castle was worth it. Excellent breakfast! A real treasure! Do not hesitate to spend time there.

Adesso scrivo in inglese: a wonderful welcome from Silvia started us off along the right path. This place is incredible and we enjoyed every minute of our two-day stay. Our room was superbly furnished and the bed really comfortable. The breakfast, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, ricotta, cakes etc etc (and eggs and bacon etc if wanted) was probably the best breakfast we have had in an Italian hotel and we have travelled extensively! What a setting - overlooking the amazing rooftops and views of the mountains - I had to keep pinching myself I wasn't dreaming. We also went on a night walk of the Via Cave (the hollowed walkways), with Lorenzo, an excellent guide recommended by our hosts and learned more about the Etruscans. Highly recommended! We repeated it the following day on our own and discovered extra caves below the viewing point. The restaurant run by the owners: Fidalma, is wonderful too. Delicious food with local produce. The walk back up the hill was necessary to walk off some of our greediness. I could go on and on - suffice it to say that this is one of the best places we have ever stayed in and we really want to return. Thank you for such a great place that you have created with obvious love and dedication. And it is truly great value. Torneremo l'anno prossimo e rimarremo per piu giorni. Grazie, grazie, grazie. (I know I sound over the top, but it truly is a wonderful place to stay.)

Unforgettable experience...our room was in the tower! Don't stay in the tower if you have mobility issues as there are steep steps in the room from the loo to the bedroom. Amazing views. Staff superb. Breakfast fantastic buffet. Walked to San Quirico through the woods and caught bus back...Google bus times worked and they are around school pick up times. Very memorable stay.

So much beauty! An absolutely stunning location situated in the most beautiful of towns. The customer service was outstanding- we have never been so well looked after! Every single staff member was just so attentive, and friendly and went beyond the call when my mother was ill. Unfortunately for we didnt catch her name but the loveliest lady running the breakfast, was just incredible, and we cant say thank you enough to her. The rooms are spotless, modern and the beds are memory foam and were just ideal. The views are unforgettable and the rooms we had overlooked the town and the woods and we felt so lucky to have been given them. It was also a celebration of my mom’s 70th birthday so the team at HDF made it unforgettable. We’re already looking to book for next year. Finally, thank you to the boss, who we met at the restaurant. If you get a chance to try his rose Burrasca, you won’t be disappointed. He also runs the Fidalma restaurant in the town which was equally fantastic. He was a really gracious guy, and made us feel incredibly welcome.

The hotel had an amazing location and the building itself was so unique. Great hospitality both within the hotel and the little town it was connected to in this part of southern Tuscany. The views from the hotel and town across the valley were very beautiful and serene.

The rooms are unexpectedly modern and cozy at same time. Very clean and inviting. The staff are very accommodating and professional. We had a little mis-hap but they didn’t miss a beat to take care of the situation and us. The breakfast was pleasant. The stairs and amount of walking necessary to enjoy this fortress hotel and town should not be underestimated. But it is a wonderful place to get lost in a time gone by. Stunning surroundings. The tour of the fortress was well worth the time.

An imposing historical setting recently and magnificently restructured into a very special hotel. The view to the surrounding village and hills gives a true sense of what it was to be a feudal lord. The excellent arrangements, the courteous staff and the modern fittings bring you back to a comfortable reality. Full marks to the restaurant as well!

We spent one night here on our way from Cortona to Rome. They sent instructions ahead of time to find parking, and there’s even a quick video on their website. We had to wait about 30 minutes past the check-in time for our room, but we’re able to leave our luggage and walk down into town. The room was simple but comfortable and ours had a gorgeous view out over the town. Nice breakfast included in the cost with option for some add-ons. Just know that this is at the TOP of the town and when you walk down to site-see or eat, you have to walk back up, on cobblestoned streets, so just be aware, it may be difficult for some. We loved it.
