Ample parking. Initial impressions were good but the welcome was certainly not warm. We had booked their supposedly deluxe room and on first impressions, it looked lovely but on closer inspection, there were quite a number of issues. The king size bed was 2 singles put together, fair enough but there was a big dip in the middle of the bed. No instructions on how to use the shower and after trying to work it out, I had burned my ankle with the steam and hurt my eyes trying to use the shampoo etc., which was difficult to get the pump working. After I had used the shower, it just would not go on for my partner to use. The bath was absolutely lovely but on enjoying that you look up and see the dirty light and a fan full of cobwebs and dust!! Towels are changed next day but cafetiere was overlooked and we had to ask for a fresh one. It's a pre-order breakfast but it's 1 of everything and only sourdough bread. I was hungry the second morning however it was a great sausage. Owner spoke on the last day but had strongly critiqued another table who had questioned their order. She was very unapproachable and not around when guests were leaving but to cap it all...just leaving and pulled bed blanket down to find on my side of the bed a painted toe nail. Photos to follow.

Just stayed at The Salty Mink for our double birthday celebration. Well worth the journey down. The Iris suite was one of the best I've stayed in. Spacious and comfortable. Had a couple of the breakfasts and really enjoyed them. The cook was certainly top notch. Partook in an afternoon tea and the sandwiches,scones, and cakes were a memorable birthday treat. Absolutely love The Salty Monk and will return again. Ideally located for Seaton and Sidmouth.

Lovely , friendy B&B. We stayed in a twin Room which opened up onto the stunning Garden. The room was very clean and the Beds were exceptionally comfy. The breakfast was great, lots of choice . I had fruit compote And full English with poached egg. I have to say that the Black pudding was the best I've ever tasted . Also lovely sour dough toast which I believe is home made . Annette & Andy were very Friendly hosts . We only stayed the one night, but I would definitely return for another weekend break soon.

We have just returned home having spent a fabulous 5night stay with Annette & Andy at the Salty Monk. Quite simply it does ''what it says on the tin''. The quality of ALL the previous reviews should give anyone contemplating spending time in Sidmouth and it's environs the need to look no further than THE SALTY MONK

An outstanding evening spent here, the four course menu couldn’t be faulted. Kicking off with a delicious mini soup to whet the appetite, followed by a varied, interesting and most delicious ‘small plates’ course, followed by the star of the show medallion of beef, the sauce was outstanding, the tortellini unique and such a creative and refreshing change to fries. We topped this off with cheese and biscuits and the ginger & apricot sponge, both delicious. What was such a bonus is that we only had to go up a few stairs for a night in the comfiest bed ever. The Salty Monk is excellent in every way and the owners are also 5 star.

What a relaxing atmosphere, we felt so welcome. The food was out of this world! We went for the taster menu. The variety of dishes was superb. As for the room, modern facilities and decor set in a delightful garden. The bed was soooo comfortable, needless to say we booked our next stay on the spot.

Beautiful place, so relaxing. Annette & Andy are lovely. Delicious meals if you want to eat here. Amazing breakfast. The rooms are spotlessly clean, delicious home made biscuits. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Thank you Would highly recommend.

We visited as non-residents because of a Michelin guide entry. The bar area and restaurant were beautiful. We decided on the four course menu. Unfortunately we did not really enjoy anything. A tomato soup with popcorn was ok, although it didn’t taste of tomato. The varied breads were all fluffy with no salt, ironic given the name of the establishment. We were then given four large “small” plates, which were at best passable but after that we were full. My husband then had a bland chicken with strange fried cheese croquettes that he stopped eating early in. I had fish gougons which were nice but came with a stack of rough cut chips and some peas in a sauce so spicy I couldn’t eat it. We passed on the desserts which all looked beige and had some take away truffle packs. The chap serving was lovely and accommodating. The website claimed it had lost its AA rosettes because of cost. We suspect it’s because of the food quality. It’s fine if you want a pub meal in a lovely setting, but we were hoping for some finer dining.

Went for dinner very limited menu no red meat for mains apart from lasagne and at £65 per head plus wine I think its not great value. The starters are just too much they would be better cutting its size but upping the quality. The wine list is ok . service was good.
