The Fig Tree Shanklin

Exceptionally clean and highly presentable. We were allocated an Executive Suite (room 12 3/4 - no room 13!!) which was very small at the back of the hotel really only suitable for single occupancy. Our friend also in an Executive Suite but very much larger room Avoid room 12 3/4 unless at a much lower rate!! Staff helpful and friendly particularly Lucas, certainly a valued employee. Downside is the breakfast where we waited an hour to be served. Why not just have a simple buffet to allow guests to choose what they want and speed up service delivery? After all, a bed & breakfast should allow a quick but decent breakfast. I witnessed many plates being returned with so much wasted food. Parking is provided but then the hotel will organise additional functions at night which takes up all the parking meaning hotel residents have to seek street parking some distance away! Parking in Shanklin is hard to come by. The hotel should address this. The reception areas, including outside on the patio, are well appointed and very pleasant to relax. Overall impression is good enough for us to return.

The hotel was perfectly located, a short pleasant stroll to the esplanade and an easy walk to shops and Shanklin Theatre. The Fig Tree was beautifully presented throughout, spotlessly clean and the staff were pleasant, polite, efficient and attentive. Our room, a suite, had a lovely balcony with sea views. The room was spacious and had everything we needed for our overnight stay. The bed was super comfortable. We both slept really well. Breakfast was good and service impeccable. We would choose The Fig Tree again in a heart beat!

Although they never claimed to be disabled accessible, my wife and I have just returned from a great stay. My wife is a permanent powerchair user and found all facilities easy to access. A priority disabled parking space next to the wheelchair ramp was just the start of the care we found. All the staff were brilliant including lending me tools to carry out a minor repair on our wheelchair. Thanks guys, you made our stay really special.

Fabulous stay in beautifully decorated with attention to detail hotel. Breakfast freshly cooked and great selection. Quiet location, yet within Walking distance to beach and town. Staff are very helpful Highly recommend Accessible by train or car.

Nice hotel in a great location, staff very friendly and could not have been more helpful. Room was well presented and clean and tidy, a negative for me is that I booked a standard room and the bed was too small so would select differently next time. The breakfast was pleasant with a variety of options so no issue at all with the food but the resteraunt for the evening was not open so had to go out for dinner.

We had a fantastic two night stay at The Fig Tree, the staff were outstanding and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was superb - spotlessly clean, well presented and comfortable. The balcony with a sea view was a lovely treat. Throughout, the hotel looks and feels exactly as a boutique hotel should do: smart, well kept, clean and tastefully decorated. The hotel is very conveniently situated - it's an easy walk into town or to the beach and a short distance from Shanklin Theatre, but also a quiet enough location to make sitting on the balcony or terrace relaxing. We used the hotel bar both evenings and were well looked after by Lucas. We booked our stay via a deal on TPIW and the charcuterie board that came as part of our package was fantastic - one of the best sharing platters I've had, very impressed. Breakfast was also excellent. Good selection of options - toast, cereal, pastries, fruit juice etc in the self service area, which was kept tidy and re-stocked throughout service and the cooked breakfast was tasty and well cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I have to say the hotel surpassed my expectations. It was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in for a while - I would not hesitate to recommend The Fig Tree and I would be very happy to stay here again.
