Our bad experiences with the hotel are based on the hotel's poor air quality and the staff's inappropriate service attitude.
As soon as we entered the hotel, we noticed a pungent smell in the hotel. At first, we didn't realize how serious the problem was until we spent some time in our rooms. Our family had booked 3 rooms in the hotel for 5 nights, so we have experience with several rooms.
When I first went to ask for a room change, the matter was handled properly and the room was changed. I asked to see the room first and that point I had opportunity to see several rooms in the hotel. I found that only the third floor of the hotel has almost odorless rooms. The smell was particularly bad in the rooms on the first floor of the hotel and in the north wing of the hotel. Several rooms also had air purifiers, which indicates an existing problem.
When we went to ask for a change for two other rooms upstairs, the request was not granted and we were asked to pay more for the rooms. We said that we wanted to change rooms for health reasons and the inconvenience in the rooms is significant. Our request was not taken into account.
We were very close to cancel our reservation at this hotel. However, we contacted trip.com and they promised to refund the extra cost for the rooms that the hotel charged. We decided to give it another try. We got rooms on the third floor where we were able to stay.
However, we noticed several things during the week regarding the air quality issue. There was visible moisture damage on the walls of the hotel. The windows were kept open to keep the smell down. Staff members were dripping a strong smelling liquid onto the floor for no reason. We also couldn't use the air conditioning in our room because it brought a bad smell into our room.
Something must have gone terribly wrong during the construction phase of the hotel, as the hotel has only just opened.
This is really unfortunate, as the hotel is visually very beautifully done.
Special mention to the breakfast staff though. Their service was extremely friendly.
