I recently stayed for two nights at Yakorea Hostel Dongdaemun. Getting there from Incheon International Airport was quite convenient; I took the 6100 bus to Dongdaemun History and Culture Park, then walked about 20 minutes to the hostel. Alternatively, you can take the subway from Dongdaemun History and Culture Park to Cheong-gu, exit from Gate 1, and walk for around 3 minutes. I arrived late, around 8 p.m., and the check-in process was completely self-service, which was smooth and efficient. The bed was fairly basic but comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep. Bathrooms are shared, which worked fine for me. The hostel provides breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., but make sure you’re on time since they stop serving after that. There’s also a free luggage storage area at the reception, which was very convenient. Overall, I had a good experience at Yakorea Hostel Dongdaemun. It’s a great option for budget travelers looking for a simple and convenient place to stay in Seoul.

Very bright and clean common areas. Cozy and quiet dorm rooms with curtained bunks and soft matresses. No bad odors. Easy self-checkin. Close to Itaewon. Easy late night bus access from Itaewon and Hongdae. Good price.

The hostel is more expensive than other places, but it’s good value for money. It’s clean, safe and well organized. The manager is on the phone 24/7, and most issues are handled immediately. However, this hostel is entirely controlled and dominated by its staff members. The four of them are always in the communal area, taking up cooking and dining space. They live there and have their own big fridge and lots of cooking utensils, whereas the guests are only allowed to use two saucepans. There are only four tables and a long couch for the whole place that can accommodate around 50 people. Have the couch and have the tables are always occupied by staff, so guests have nowhere to eat. The staff hang out in the communal area all the time. They even do their hair in the entrance in front of the mirror. The whole time I was there I had a feeling the hostel was their house and I had to make a bit of room for myself at their convenience. I counted about 6 staff members, and only half of them were friendly. It felt weird staying at such hostel. The room is ok, but the bunk bed is squeaky. The towels smell clean when you start using them, but once their wet they smell dirty. Not sure they change the bedding after each guest - my pillow had a hair on it. Overall rating 3 out of 5. Not sure I’ll stay there again.

Highly recommended for solo female travellers. Location is near to metro station. Serves simple breakfast but filling.

This hostal is perfect for solo travellers, partners or friends, the space is comfortable and provided with every facility needed. The staff was also helpful. The location is just one minute-walk from the nearest station, and surrounded by a friendly neigbourhood, with supermarkets, cafeterias, groceries, etc.

Great location near to MRT station but hotel didn't have any lift. Need walking up and.down, this hotel great recommended to those solo travels or budgeting traveler.

located near the metro and many attractions, if you are given a basement, it is difficult to survive there, since there is one toilet - a shower for everyone and noise from the ventilation

The shittiest place I've ever been in my life!!!! DO NOT BOOK THIS ****!. Very dirty room, 100 times worse than the photos. There is a lot of mold in room. Everything is covered in dust and cobwebs as if the place was last cleaned 5 years ago Horrible smells throughout the hostel. Uncomfortable stairs where you hit your head on the ceiling. And we saw huge cockroaches! Brr..... We are happy to leave and forget this place like a bad dream, think 100 times before checking in here. I hope my review will help you!
