The Benett Arms

We arrived late as it was an impromptu stay! The staff were warm, friendly and accommodating, The room we had was done out to a high standard and we had a great sleep as the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was also nice, especially the scrambled egg.. the best I've ever had! The only slight issue was the smell of paint where they must have recently decorated, however our overall stay was perfect. I would definitely go back.

Visiting the area on business needed quick overnight. The Bennett Arms fitted the bill perfectly. Food and beer good. Log fire made it toasty warm locals chatty, staff really friendly and welcoming. Rooms simple and warm, bed comfy, fluffy towels, tea coffee. Yes bathroom could do with a little tlc,but ok. Barmaid ( sorry didn't catch name ) works too hard. Nice location.

We chose to stay here to break an evening journey from London to Devon. A very attractive setting and building. Quaint cosy pub with more modern rooms at the rear. We had a very warm reception. The room was fairly spacious,clean and comfortable. Bathroom quite basic. We had a little food and drink in the bar before retiring for the night. The food was very good and an impressive selection of beers. Breakfast was included in the price, pre ordered the evening before. It was very nicely done, great quality bacon and sausage. I would recommend this pub for a night and a meal.

Travelling to our holiday destination we saw signs for the Bennett Arms from the A303. A little persistence is needed but it is well worth it! We were greeted in a very friendly manner and had a fish platter for lunch which was really nice, homemade chips as well. We were going to book and stay don our way home but sadly they were fully booked Well done to you all, a really nice experience

A warm welcome with a lovely log burner in the cosy bar. Good pub grub in the evening and an excellent breakfast in the morning- all individually prepared. Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. A real ale pub with a good choice of keg beers.

The Benett Arms is a pub we have passed often but never visited, so this was a timely opportunity. We decided to have dinner. The ambience is welcoming - this is a real country village pub. Seats inside and outside, a busy pub! We sat in the top room and enjoyed large portions of chicken chasseur and a lamb shank. So large, no room for the delicious puds. The food was well cooked, and well seasoned. The menu is long, offering a wide choice of options but make sure you look at the board next to the bar for the daily specials (these were). You order from the bar. Service was friendly and prompt. But as other reviews have said, the Benett Arms is more than just a good value for money nosherie. It also has a range of real ales. I enjoyed Chinook and Box of Frogs but missed the ale brewed locally for the pub. This is a real ale heaven - Camra pilgrimages here ! The choice changes - as we ate, Chinook became another ale and the high turnover suggests you will enjoy beers at their best, rather than languishing for a long time. So many thanks, and sorry we passed on the fruit crumble, but we will be back 😊
