'A Jewel in the Teeside Crown'. My wife and I stayed here for 3 days, the room was spacious and the bed very comfy. Our room had a sliding door opening to the garden which was extra special. The breakfast was second to none, so many choices and variations. A well equipped dining area was available for takeaways in the evening if needed. Situated on the seafront, close to pubs and restaurants and the town of Hartlepool and with extremely polite and helpful staff the Altonlea is a must for overnight stays if visiting the area.

We came up the country to visit family, and thought we would stay at the seaside. It was an excellent decision, as the guest house is superb! Everyone we talked to were very friendly and worked tirelessly to attend to our every need (even me with my weird egg allergy... still not dead!). Our room was really comfy, and we had private parking right outside the door. Its quite possibly one of the best places we have stayed on our travels, and we heartily recommend the breakfast before a walk on the front. Many thanks for making our stay so wonderful, we are just sorry we couldn't have stayed longer. A home away from home :)

My wife and I have just returned from another 4 nights at this excellent b&b. Adjoining The Green and very close to the stunning beach at Seaton Carew, it is an ideal base when visiting the area. The en-suite rooms offer comfortable beds, with high quality cotton bedding and towels. Add the delicious cooked breakfast and the host’s north eastern friendliness and you have the perfect ingredients for a great b&b.

Very friendly and welcoming. Room and bed were comfortable and warm. Tastefully decorated and well maintained. Fantastic breakfast and very good value overall. The exterior was undergoing some ‘refreshment’ and I trust that this will make the garden space very pleasant in the sunshine (tip: don’t expect sunshine in October!)

Having stayed before it was a pleasure to stayed again. The most welcoming guest house ever. Nothing is too much trouble. The room was large and the bed the best ever with the most sumptuous pillows and duvet for a great nights sleep. Lovely fluffy white towels and everywhere spotlessly clean. We overlooked the garden which is lovely with a covered seating area to have a glass of wine ever in the rain! Lee cooks an amazing breakfast to perfection, but there is also a selection of cereals, juices fruit, jams etc. so you will never be hungry. The beach is just across the road and a nice walk along the sea front. A well deserved 5* rating. Would highly recommend staying here.

Very clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. We loved that there is a separate kitchen with a fridge, microwave, plates, cutlery and a table where guests can eat a takeaway or cook their own food. A very good idea. The family are very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The garden is beautiful and a lovely place to chill when the sun's out. Plenty of parking spaces out the back and also permits if you want to park out front. Lots of choice at breakfast, cereals, fruit and juice along with a cooked breakfast. We had the cooked breakfast which was great apart from the sausages which weren't to our liking (akin to Richmond's). This was the reasons for the 4 stars plus we had two knocks on the door one morning as they were carrying out PAT testing. I appreciate this has to be done but maybe provide do not disturb signs for the door. Also when the testing was being carried out in the building our lights went out whilst in the shower. They were very apologetic, however this could've been better organised. Would definitely recommend though.

Great place to stay well worth the five stars given. The rooms are very spaious with an on suite bathroom which is kept in tip top condition, the bed was very comfortable the pillow where lovely very supportive The grounds are beautiful with plenty of seating. The staff are very attentive lovely people and the breakfast is superb made to order as you sit by Lee. We will be returning for a 3rd time very pleasant stay there.

From the moment you arrive, you’re treated like family; all the staff are so friendly, welcoming and respond to queries and requests extremely promptly. We stayed in Room 12 which was comfortable, spacious and had generous tea/coffee/hot chocolate making facilities in the room. The beds were soft and enveloped you in comfort. Functional bathroom with ample hot water and huge towels. The location of the property is great, 2 mins from the seafront, close to bus routes into town. Parking available outside the property and on the premises. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance and nearby supermarkets. Outstanding cooked breakfast with the best scrambled eggs ever! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will return in the future.

The place is a little hidden gem we have stayed here several times and never been disappointed. The full English breakfast is one of the best I have had anywhere and always the same standard each stay. Even my requests to have Blueberries available was listened to and made avaialble. Nothing too much trouble. We stayed in room 6 this time which was perfect for us on the ground floor, with great sleep quality bed and feather pillows. Excellent position for the seafront too and great beach. Definitely my favourite place to stay in Hartlepool.
