Sheffield Arms Hotel

We were staying on a camp site just up the road from The Sheffield Arms and we ended up eating there two days running , the food was excellent , the beer was superb and the young staff were friendly , keen and all looked happy to serve , it's a 10/10 from us and we'd have no hesitation in recommending this fabulous establishment .

Superb pub in a lovely little village. The staff were really attentive after a minor mix up with our reservation, thank you. It has a really welcoming atmosphere. The food was delicious. We would love to go back. I'd recommend combining the pub with a walk along the Alkborough Trail that starts just behind the church next to the pub to the village of Alkborough. Even our young children managed it with ease. Take your wellies!

We haven't been to the pub for some time but we were told it had been taken over and the changes were amazing especially concerning the food. We therefore decided to give the pub a 'go' and we found-Superb staff, atmosphere and of course food, definitely will return, many thanks

A very tasty three course festive meal in comfortable surroundings, served by pleasant and attentive staff. All three of us ordered different starters and desserts and were equally impressed. And the turkey, which we all ordered, did not disappoint either. Served alongside generous helpings of roasted and boiled vegetables, this classic British seasonal dish provided the perfect start to our Christmas holiday. Thoroughly recommend!

Just been for a carvery with the family and WOW we are absolutely blown away. We have tried carvery’s all over the place, we are foodies that are quite hard to please! But this was absolutely incredible with everything and more. There are two different homemade meat pies as well as all the meat, different sauces and gravies, along with all the beautiful veg, you can even go up for more! Absolutely everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Our waitress Mia was so welcoming, polite and professional, she’s an absolute gem! We will absolutely be back as often as we can. Please keep the food this good!!!!

We’ve visited 3 times since new people took over this pub. Was really hoping to love it but can’t put my finger on why it’s just not doing it for us! It’s no longer a pub where you can pop for a nice drink. Only one pair of comfortable seats, all other table set up for meals. I get that they are now concentrating on the food aspect but we like to have a drink before eating and you’re immediately shown to a table and it’s feels a bit like an all inclusive hotel when you queue up for the carvery. We’d previously been for the Sunday carvery and today tried the Fish&Chips carvery. Unlike a Sunday they also had the menu on offer which meant no one was at the carvery and nothing was being replenished as they were busy in the kitchen with menu meals. Food was ok, if you like to return to the carvery more than once it’s good value but not for us. We’d have been better off getting the fish &chips off the menu. After 3 visits I don’t think we’ll be rushing back. We eat out every week so it’s a shame that this local isn’t doing it for us.
