The Stockade Inn

The new owner purchased the property in 2020. He mentioned that the HBO series The Gilded Age shot some scenes in the hotel. If you stroll through the building, you'll understand why. The Stockade Inn is a critical part of the historic district and has been renovated esthetically. If you stay here, realize it is not perfect like a luxury hotel chain. There was a light out in the bathroom, a portable air conditioner with a 6" duct blowing heat out the lower portion of an original single pane window, and an exposed live electrical connector because of a broken outlet device. The plug strip pulled out of the socket when I unplugged from it, and the breaker tripped when I tried to plug the strip back into the broken side of the socket. But I'm a member of the Los Angeles Conservancy and don't regret supporting the ongoing effort by the owner and the community to preserve and restore this building. The thing that makes up for the rough edges is the friendly service by the staff. They have an old elevator, and the masseuse saw me struggling with an oversized piece of luggage and helped me operate the very small but functional old lift. Staff had carried our luggage up to the top floor when we arrived. There's a very nice new coffee shop and great free parking in the back of the hotel as well as wheelchair access.

Great hotel! Old renovated building so it feels like you’re staying in a bit of history. The room was very nice, pretty view of an old church across the street and a with a really large bathroom. Host was very accommodating and helpful. I also got a massage and it was amazing. The masseuse was great and honestly it was one of the best massage I’ve had. It was short stay and rainy so I didn’t get to explore but it was in a very nice area that looked walkable to things. I did walk down to the river for a morning walk which was very nice. Highly recommend

We enjoyed a comfortable stay at the historic Stockade Inn for our 34th wedding anniversary. Our host graciously upgraded our room in honor of the occasion and we appreciated additional consideration. The room was very large and absolutely stunning...a bit like stepping back in time but with modern convenience. The location cannot be better for access to theater and restaurants. The area is safe and clean and offers an opportunity to stroll through the well-preserved Stockade area. Communication and service were excellent. We highly recommend this gem!

We wanted something with character rather than a chain hotel. The Stockade Inn was exactly that. The building has history, the room was very large and comfortable, the owners were very accommodating, and the location was great - within walking distance of points of interest and restaurants. We would definitely return.
