Clifton Hotel

We had a decent room, (paid for it) a corner one so had great view of beach. heater in the room which was needed. Had a bar but shut at 10 at night, this along with the most of Scarborough shutting early due to being out of season left u at loosed end in the evening. Breakfast on the first day was served at the table, on nice. The second day was self service and we went down to breakfast towards the end of the allotted time and a lot of the food u could tell have been there for most of the morning. Maybe because place was quiet. Staff were nice and helpful and good location for the north beach, bit of a trek for the south beach.

Amazing hotel, Kelly was very nice and helped me, she made sure everything is perfect. I was allergic and she went above and beyond to make sure the room is suitable for me. The room is clean, comfy and the view is amazing. Definitely, coming back

This hotel is VFM big style .was a bit wary with it being a 2 star and has had a good few less than positive reviews. we arrived in the evening after travelling from the midlands and got key to room within 5 mins and couldnt believe what we got for little money a midge over £100 for two nights including parking charge of £16 ,Room was immaculate smelled as fresh as a daisy and had every facility .New wardrobe had an oil filled radiator not needed as room was warm on arrival - a fan should you need to cool down ,a Steam iron obviously a TV but also got kettle with all items needed to brew up + a seperate coffee machine you pay £1 per pod used everything appeared new we even got extra pillows in the wardrobe still in zippered bags .Bathroom was all like new .The complete room had been renovated as had most of the hotel we scanned - dining room - lounges and Bar. pretty sure bed was new but not to my liking as it was too hard although i slept well both nights.of course you also got soap shampoo and conditioner . This hotel room was not 2 star - easily a 3 star and possibly 3+ Was a 5 min walk into town centre 23rd 24th sept 2024

altho bit pricey and lil dated the hotel was very clean and comfy plenty of tea n coffe supplies the veiw from our window WOW and breakfast which included was buffet style and hot the hotel offers parking if pre booked it but as I didn't know I was given a parking card to park outside for free so win win x would stay again

On the spur of the moment we decided on a Saturday morning to see if we could get a hotel in Scarborough for that night. The Clifton had availability on line and the price including breakfast was very reasonable so we booked it. The staff were welcoming and our twin room was pleasant enough: appeared to have a new carpet, the beds were comfy and there were certainly plenty of things in the room: fridge, coffee machine, tea, coffee and kettle, hairdryer, a big built wardrobe/cupboard with ironing board, extra bedding, a heater I think and plenty of hangers and drawers for storage. The bathroom appears to have been newly done out, big walk in shower, no bath and completely covered in Mermaid board: actually a nice job has been done. The shower was excellent, however, the room appeared to have no ventilation and the window has been painted shut decades ago - big disadvantage with such a good hot shower. Unusually for this day and age the toiletries are individual bottles and soaps not the wall mounted push style you tend to get now. TV is only freesat, this is all we have at home so a little disappointing as we usually like to indulge in channel junk that we don't to see when away and we have the time. The breakfast room and foyer etc are lovely, suspect newly done, staff great and breakfast everything you need without too much fuss. They seemed to have a policy of letting people with dogs have breakfast in the foyer but not the main room, which I totally agree with, no dogs in the dining room. It's an old hotel with all the difficulties that come with it regarding rooms, decoration, windows etc but an effort has been made and it has a very welcome, comfortable feel. I would however criticise their decision not to give more parking info on the phone and also website: we very nearly didn't book since when I phoned before booking on-line, all their spaces were full and no further info was given. In the morning reception said they preferred to explain options in person: do they not understand that to be 'in person' when you have arrived in a vehicle you already need to have parked! Since we were only staying one night, arriving after 7pm and leaving before 9am, parking was not an issue as we could park for free in the plentiful disc zones nearby - this information could have been given on the phone. There are various options for parking depending on how long and what times you need it - assuming you can't get a space in their own carpark. If you were staying a week and not moving the car, I suspect you would pay some substantial money but if you can time your arrivals and departures or are going for days out you just have to pay attention to the restrictions. For a short stay in this area, we would definitely consider this hotel again.

We were welcomed at the Clifton by the friendly Manager, Julie Vinson. We arrived early, not expecting to check in, but just park the car, but as our room was ready we could check in early which was simple. We had room 009, which was ground floor but had patio doors leading to a small outdoor area with a bench which was nice due to the weather. You do leave your keys when you leave the hotel, for health and safety reasons, but it is quick to pick them up when you return. Reservation parking was available for our stay, £8 per day, and guests have a reservation sign in the bay to secure your space. We were staying for 2 nights but decided to stay one extra night. As our room was available, the Manager extended our stay in the same room. Our room was a little small but for 3 nights it was fine, the room was clean, freshly decorated, bathroom was clean with an excellent shower. We found the beds were very comfy. Towels are provided with 2 little bottles of shampoo and body wash and soap for hand washing. In the wardrobe there is a fan, which we used as it was quite hot, there are additional blankets and even a heater for the winter. There is also a hairdryer in the room. We had breakfast one morning, there was the usual choice of cereals, fruit, toast, coffee, the orange juice was lovely, we had a full English and the food was of a very good quality. All the staff are very friendly, the cleaners obviously work hard due to the immaculate rooms and surrounding areas and restaurant. We would recommend and definitely return.
