My 3rd annual visit was very comfortable and pleasant as usual. (Initially when planning my visit this year, in an effort to economize, I had researched extensively and booked a different B&B which was cheaper by $300 for a 4-night stay (not an insignificant amount). HOWEVER, within 15 minutes of my arrival at this “other” B&B,” I unfortunately had to complain about something significantly uncomfortable in my room, and was horrified at the unprofessional response, which didn’t bode at all well for the rest of my stay. I knew then that it was worth paying a bit more to be happy on vacation, and so I called Eliza Thompson to see if they could put me up last minute. They (Jennifer) kindly found me a room that worked for me, and I wound up being so happy to be back to a well-run establishment with a focus on guest satisfaction (ET), instead of a poorly-run establishment (the ‘other’ place) where you might save some money but you will feel it! ET has attractively decorated rooms w comfortable beds, excellent breakfast, and gracious service, including little details like available sunscreen, mosquito repellent, rain ponchos, and umbrellas. Jones St, where the house is situated, is known as the prettiest street in town, which is saying a LOT in one of the country’s prettiest towns. Breakfast is served in a beautiful courtyard by warm and efficient staff. To me, the location is perfect, as it is far enough removed from the hubbub and tackiness of the river front, yet near enough to walk there easily when or if you want to visit there (and if u want some pralines or a riverboat ride). Being further away from the river has its advantages, as it puts you just a couple of blocks north of Forsyth Park and its fountain - one of the iconic landmarks in Savannah and a lovely place to visit, walk, and take photos. Melody, the Innkeeper, has a lovely calm and peaceful vibe, is very kind, and highly focused on guest comfort and satisfaction. It was her wonderful hospitality and memorable activity recommendations upon my first visit 3 years ago that have brought me back for repeated visits, and made me, as a guest, feel appreciated and welcomed. I can’t wait to go back.
