Barrier Beach Resort

We had a lovely stay at this resort. We stayed in a Garden Fare with a plunge pool. The resort is beautiful, and the staff were so nice and accommodating. The room was clean, fresh and came with aircon (not all do). We can't complain about the facilities at the resort, but if you plan on snorkelling, you might find it easier to bring your own gear as theirs was a bit aged and worn (but otherwise usable). The house reef was fantastic! We spent every day snorkelling out to each point, and the corals are just stunning. We saw so much ocean life (including turtles and sea kraits). The restaurant is beautiful, and the view from the dining space is incredible. Each night they have a board of specials, and we had a great time sampling the local seafood and the Santo Beef (must have the sirloin, it is so good!). We ate there for Breakfast, lunch and dinner for a full week and never got tired of the offerings. Again, the wait/bar staff were so lovely. Some local blue holes aren't too far of a ride away if you are feeling adventurous, but the roads are a bit rough. We did the ride to Riri Blue hole, which is beautiful and weren't too exhausted to spend the afternoon snorkelling again. The bikes are provided by the resort, and they pumped up a flat tyre for us as soon as we asked (were happy to wait around a bit but they got it fixed asap). Overall, we had such a great time, it was so relaxed, tropical and beautiful. Id definitely recommend a stay, and we would love to come back one day.

We have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing holiday at Barrier Beach Resort. We stayed in Fare 4 which had direct access to a lovely sunny beach, the water is exactly as you see in the photos, incredibly clear and beautifully warm. The housekeeping staff do a great job and the fare is very clean although it is a little worn. The rain shower is great with really good pressure. Our beachfront fare was not air-conditioned however the ceiling fan coupled with lots of ocean facing shutters meant that we wouldn't have used a/c anyway. The downside of this fare is that it is right next to the restaurant and bar area so it can be noisy early in the morning when staff arrive and start setting up for breakfast or if there are noisy evening diners. All of the pathways around the fares are wooden and can be very slippery when wet, you need to be very careful when walking around. Staff were excellent, very friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfast is included and was good with fruit, juice, muesli, toast and spreads and eggs scrambled, poached, fried or and omelette with savoury fillings or pancakes offered. More substantial cooked dishes can be ordered for an additional cost. The dinner menu is limited but most of the meals we tried were cooked well. Many vegetables and salad ingredients seem to be very hard to source in Luganville so there was not a lot of variety. Snorkelling directly in front of where you are staying is a very special treat and we snorkelled every day. While there is not a lot of colourful coral as the water is very shallow, there are plenty of fish to be seen. Overall, we had a really enjoyable holiday and hope to return.

We went to Barrier beach resort due to a sale on Luxury Escapes 7 days , we had no idea how perfect this would be , we took the risk with wet season , it only rained 1 night , we stayed in #2 beach Forè it has a fan no air con , we had a good breeze most of the time , if you want to declutter and unwind your mind the simplicity and quiet here is medicine .The snorkelling out front was stunning , the food was beautiful the staff and managers Wayne and Sabine made us feel spoilt , our Taxi driver Tusty was great , a safe driver , waited while we explored and snorkled the top spots , our bed was comfortable , we couldn't fault our stay ❤️
