Astir Thira Hotel

Very helpful, cheerful staff, who offer to support you in finding out about local events and places to visit. The hotel is spotless, very clean and welcoming rooms, complete with air conditioning, which is essential if visiting in July-August! Hotel staff are more than happy to sort transfers to and from the airport. The views from the hotel are stunning (from a room with a volcano view). Road outside if noisy, if you are a light sleeper, ear plugs are crucial. Cannot recommend the hotel enough.

The staff is VERY helpful and responsive. The common area, rooms and pool are clean and comfortable. The rooms are quiet in spite of it's proximity to the road into Fira. The pool provided a lovely place to relax and cool off in the summer heat. Continental Breakfast offers many delicious options.

The ratings are based on the location of my room and the poor shower stall. The hotel is good and conveniently located. Alma at the Reception was very pleasant as were the staff at breakfast. I booked a triple room - one double bed and one twin bed even though I was traveling solo because the rooms were on the ground floor and since the hotel did not have an elevator or bell boys it would make it easier rather than hassle with the luggage. I was shocked when I was given room number 3 , next to the reception and breakfast area. Outside my front door were stairs going upstairs and stairs going downstairs as there are rooms near the swimming pool on the lower level. Also the door to one of the wings to rooms such as mine was near my front door. The WC was also near my front door. People going upstairs or downstairs or the ground level wing close to my room would pass by my room. People checking out later in the day would keep their luggage outside my front door. My bathroom also near the front door had a tiny shower on the ground level with a flimsy plastic shower curtain. A shower on the ground level should have a proper shower stall with a proper enclosure. My bathroom would get flooded and I could not even open the window to let it dry because it opened into the staircase going up and.e could have a wonderful view of my bathroom. I asked the Receptionist a few minutes after I checked in if there was another similar room available. She showed me room number 2. The room ( as all the other rooms on the ground floor ) had a wide corridor in front of it and when you stepped out of the front door there was a view of the swimming pool and vistas beyond. It also had a bathroom with a tub where one could have a Proper shower. I would have loved to have that room instead. She said that she would call and check with the owner and see if I could be given that room. Unfortunately the owner denied my request because it was being held for another couple arriving the next day. They had already stayed in a similar room on a previous trip and knew the room. That about says it all. I was given the worst room in the hotel. There was constant activity because of the location. All the other rooms had some privacy and calm. A triple room should never be in this location . The shower was also pathetic. There is one more thing. I received a call from the Reception after 9.00 pm the night before I was leaving, I was just getting in shower as I was checking out early and had booked the shuttle for 5.50 am the next day. The receptionist said that there was a tax for 1.5 Euros. Generally in the rare occasions when something is due it is mentioned open check in and taken care of at that time. I told her that I was about to shower and could I pay it in the morning and she said that it would be fine. I gave the receptionist on duty early morning a 5 Euro bill and told him that I had the pay 1.5 euros. He put the change on the counter. I waited for him

I researched hotels in the area and The Astir Thira ticked all the boxes… I knew it was going to be a great stay when I received an email from Anna a week before our stay. We arrived on 8/28/22 and stayed for 3 nights. We arrived by ferry from Athens and upon arrival received the best welcome from Anna!! She gave us a map and pointed out the top restaurants and things to do on Santorini. Our room was charming with Greek flair , CLEAN, and had the pool steps from the front door with sea views!! The room was very comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was comfortable and well stocked. The bed was a Queen and dressed in vibrant colors. It was a bit low and the mattress was a bit to firm but not a reason to not stay. The breakfast in the lobby each morning was wonderful, even for picky eaters!! It was a great start to our busy days! The hotel and pool spotless!! The hardworking cleaning crew did a wonderful job each day and always with a Smile!!! I will warn you the Wifi is super slow but not the hotels fault- it’s slow all over the island. The hotel is located about 2-3 blocks from the bus station. We took the bus daily into Oía for around 2Euro- a bargain!! The buses are air conditioned and run every 1/2 hour. The last leaves Oía at 11:20pm. This allowed us to explore all of Oía!! If Santorini is on your bucket list add this hotel too! You will not regret it! We felt like family with every staff member interaction!! We loved it so much we are planning to return next year with a large group. Thank you! Astir Thira! Thank you Anna!!

Good location, just outside the center of Thira. Nice pool area, although we only used it once on the day we checked out. Small but decent room. Perfect hotel if you just need somewhere nice to stay while you explore the beautiful island of Santorini.

Best location best people warm welcome by alma she s exceptional amazing and super friendly she has given the right advise about where to eat ect…explain in details about excursions we took 2 from hotel breakfast is amazing hotel is very clean very comfortable and they make you feel like home. Also our flight was much later then check out they let us use pool and shower also at no extra cost I absolutely loved the hotel staff and everything is nearby safe and easy to get to. Will for sure return again thank you alma you are amazing 😘
