One of the most charming boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed in! Our experience was wonderful from the moment we pulled up to the valet. We were greeted by Jordan, who was super friendly and offered to help with all our luggage. Check in was a breeze! We were promptly welcomed by Taylor, and because i had inputed my details in the app, it took less than 2 minutes! We were upgraded to a suite, room 210, with a nice living room/seating area that was separated from the bedroom. Communicating with the front desk was so easy by text! We were able to get late checkout through text. The room was great! Bed was wonderfully comfortable, shower pressure was strong and towels were beautifully soft. We enjoyed the gym as well, in the basement behind the pool. There was a peloton bike and tread and although it was a smaller space, they had a nice mix of weights and machines. The pool chairs looked so comfortable! But the morning was too cool for a dip! Breakfast at sandpiper was delicious. We had fresh juices and an omelet and the American breakfast. We enjoyed it! Checkout was also breezy. We didn’t even need to stop, just dropped off the keys and our car was ready! Loved the location of this hotel. Right across the street from overlooking Santa Monica beach and the pedestrian bridge crossing is right there. Location can’t be beat. We’ll definitely be back for a longer stay.

This hotel regularly sells for over $1k. I'm genuinely perplexed at so many glowing reviews. The structure is a converted motel or old apartment building, while the interior has been almost completely updated, it still has a motel feel. The walls are paper thin, the floors squeak, and the bathroom door takes a lot of effort to open and close. I received a pre-arrival email asking about preferences. We actually exchanged 2 or 3 emails where I requested a room not on the ground floor. The associate also mentioned a suite upgrade (I'm a Diamond member). However upon arrival, I was told that the property is full, not only no upgrade, we got the smallest room (judging from the diagram) on the ground floor with a view of a wall. While the room is nicely decorated, the bed linen is not premium at all. The bathroom counter space is almost non-existent. The room is also oddly shaped, with a large TV pushed in a corner, and a desk pushed in a different corner. Single tiny window looking out to a wall (the other side of the wall is a dingy apartment building). For a high-end hotel carrying a premium price, one would expect pretty good service. In fact the level of service is no different from a no-frill brand such as Hampton Inn. Aside from the small pool, there are basically no amenities. No turndown service at night. There is not even a coffee maker in the room. We made a request for additional water bottles that got ignored. Had to call a 2nd time. Overall it was a disappointing stay. The location is good for our purpose. It takes 20 minutes to walk to Santa Monica pier. Parking across the street is easy and free after 6pm.

Arrived at the hotel for a short stay checking out tomorrow. This hotel has exceeded my expectations thus far. The rooms are amazing, the hotel is beautiful, the location is perfect for my family, and everyone on the staff has been extremely courteous. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be back - Shantan

We arrived in the hope of feeling a connection with Stan Laurel, who lived here until his death in 1965. Lenny was absolutely brilliant, even taking us to see inside Stans room, he took photos for us and couldn't have been more accommodating, thank you Lenny. The now beautiful hotel was very welcoming and made our short 30 minute visit so memorable. Many thanks
