Hotel Boutique Casa Mia

We stayed in this hotel on January the eighth. It was a cute but very small room. The air conditioning was not optimal. No hot water in the wi fi was not working. The pool and the hot tube are the same thing at this hotel, and it is not hot. The hotel uses the energy efficient and adds your room key to the slot to save the power method, which is fine if the ac unit can keep up with having to compensate for being off all day during the heat. We asked for a room with better AC, ac they led us to another room with the same under Power ac for the size of the room. Did I mention the wifi was not working either? Anyway, we asked for a refund for the second night, and the gentleman at the desk informed us that their policy had no refunds. So if you are looking for a small hotel with under powered ac that can't be left on when your not there and has a no refund policy when you are unhappy with your stay this is the place enjoy.

We booked this hotel through Kayak as it was listed as having a pool. I had a quick glance and it appeared to have a small pool. What they actually have isn’t a pool by any stretch of the imagination, it’s basically a bit bath with dirty water in it, or a jacuzzi which doesn’t have bubbles. We stayed for 3 nights and on the second morning, I was on my way to the local laundrette, which offers a 3 hour service. The cleaning lady stopped me on the way out, and insisted that she did it. She charged more, but I thought it would be convenient, so I went with her. I checked whether she could do it quickly, as I needed the clothes back, and she said she would leave them in our room at 5pm. On returning back from a day of hiking at 7pm, they were not there, so I chased. The young boy on reception tried to contact her but couldn’t, and he couldn’t find the clothes, so I had to wear the wet and dirty clothes I’d been hiking in for an evening out. On the third morning, they were there and she had cleaned them, but was more interested in chasing me for payment than apologising or explaining why they were late. The same day, we also asked for fresh towels, as they hadn’t changed them since we arrived. The lad on reception said he would bring them when he’d finished his paperwork, which seemed to be updating his social media. He eventually brought some, but a few minutes later he reappeared asking for the dirty towels back, which we were about to use for the ‘pool’. The cleaning lady was on the phone to him at the same time, presumably the same one who was so elusive when it came to our washing, anxious that we didn’t steal the towels… Pictures are misleading, the breakfast looks nothing like this. There are two options, a big pancake or garlic toast with eggs. It’s fine, but very basic. We had to constantly chase for more coffee after being given half a cup. The sink in the bathroom didn’t drain at all, so it was filthy. The aircon was very weak, but eventually didn’t cool the room down. The room was quite nice but had no external windows and there was a flower pot by the bed which attracted mosquito lavre. The hotel is incredibly loud, as it’s next to all the bars and constantly beeping taxis - they can’t do much about this to be fair but it should be considered if you’re after a quiet night. On the last day after we’d checked out, we collected luggage and asked to have a quick shower by the pool, and the young lady on reception was very helpful, even offering us nice new towels rather than the ragged old ones we’d had in the room. Other than her, the rest of the staff were quite disinterested and unhelpful.

Mixed feelings about this hotel. It is situated right next to parque novios which is right in the middle of centro histórico, so the location is central - however be aware of street vendors/homeless people waiting in front of the entrance. The price is reasonable - I paid 33 USD for one night. Bathrooms were nice and clean. However, that being said - a few things would deter me from staying here again: The AC, the TV and the WIFI. The AC was in poor condition and took a long time to cool the room down. I had to use the fan in the ceiling at night. The TV cable box was so slow it was impossible to use - sometimes taking 10 seconds to change one channel - imagine having to browse 70 channels to find the football game. Most of the time the remote didn’t work - even after asking the reception to change the batteries. The wifi was almost non existent - extremely slow to the extent that safari on my iPad timed out. Also - there is no elevator, the pool is more like a jacuzzi with no bubbles and prepare to wear earbuds as the music from the nearby bar is quite loud. Fine for backpackers, but for people looking for higher standards probably not the place to stay.

If you are after a relaxing stay this place is not for you! The rooms had a bad stench of damp and there was a lot of noise coming into the rooms from the bar that is opposite. There was also a lot of mosquitos in the room and there was no effort by the hotel to keep them out. This hotel was so bad that we stayed for an hour and left the hotel to stay at another one. The staff said they would get in touch with us the next day to sort out a refund but never did. I emailed them a couple of times with no reply and they refused the refund when *********** tried to get in touch. All in all this was the worst hotel we stayed in whilst travelling around Colombia and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone - please avoid!

Dopo l'escursione della Ciudad Perdida, avevo bisogno di un po' di comfort. Prenoto l'hotel di fronte ma al mio arrivo mi dicono che sono pieni e c'era stato un errore con Booking. Mi consigliano loro il Casa Mia, in pieno centro, a pochi passi da Plaza de los Novios. Il prezzo è caro per i miei standard backpack di viaggio, intuisco leggermente sopra la media degli hotel di pari categoria, ma l'attenzione del personale, l'ampio bagno, il letto comodo, giustificano la spesa! Le stanze sono simili e con tema di uccellini tropicali, arredate da "hotel boutique", essenziali ma con dettagli. La piscina è piccola ma ho avuto dei buoni momenti per goderla da solo. Il meglio è il personale, dalla reception alle cameriere. Sono stati tutti gentilissimi, disponibili, prodighi a risolvere difficoltà (problemi con delle tubature dell'acqua calda e si sono attivati subito velocemente, che la "velocità" non è di casa in questo Paese..) e mi hanno accudito dato che non stavo bene fisicamente. Menzione particolare ad Ana, che durante la permanenza mi ha facilitato il soggiorno, aiutandomi ad organizzare dal lavaggio della biancheria ad una colazione sana per il mio stomaco malandato! Imperfezioni più o meno migliorabili: -rendere più attrattiva la zona della piscina -prodotti anti-formiche, nonostante sia normale in Colombia. Erano poche, ma c'erano in un angolo della stanza. -insonorizzazione con l'esterno. Per la struttura dell'hotel è molto difficile ma, per chi ha il sonno leggero, c'è da tenere presente che i bar con musica alta sono a pochi metri ed udibili dalle stanze. Ero molto stanco e ho dormito splendidamente comunque, senza tappi. Ripeto, il tutto compensato con il gran lavoro del personale e lo stile dell'hotel che ti coccola! Sicuramente ci tornerei, magari in coppia, perché è perfetto per un weekend di relax e amore!

Nada recomendable. Buscad otros hoteles en Santa Marta (hay muchos a precios similares). Que no os engañe el papel pintado de la pared, porque es lo unico bueno de este hotel. - Imposible dormir. Si quieres descansar no vayas, el ruido de los pitos de los coches y la musica de bares y discotecas es brutal. Aunque te digan que te dan una habitacion silenciosa, olvidate, no podras dormir. - El baño esta sucio. No lo limpian bien, la mapara llena de churretes, el desagüe y laterales de la ducha tambien… aparenta limpieza pero no lo esta - El personal no es nada agradable y es poco profesional. Tienes que subir 3 pisos la maleta y la persona que te acompaña (un chico alto y fuerte) te dice que el te lleva la mochila pequeña y que subas tu la maleta de 20kg. Lo nunca visto… - Nuestra habitacion estaba llena de hormigas, por la cama, por la maleta… reclamamos hablar con el gerente y el susodicho nunca llamo. Despues de volver a reclamarlo al final del dia, nos llamo contanto una historia de que le habian sacado una muela y no se que. El hombre no sabia ni cuantas estrellas tiene su hotel. Por supuesto no nos dio solucion a las hormigas. Nos cambiaron de habitacion, pero eso no compensa el asco y el mal rato. PESIMA atencion al cliente de este señor. NO VAYAIS, hay 100 hoteles en Santa Marta parecidos a este a mejor precio y con mejor atencion
