Hotel Riu Cabo Verde - All Inclusive Adults Only

In 2016 RIU Cabo Verde was RIU Palace Cabo Verde. I gave 95/100. In 2023 it was RIU Cabo Verde. I gave 7/10. December 2024. Terrible, 1/100. -- Accommodation Started with a toilet converted to a gas chamber - sewage gas leaking from the toilet pipe. The next room, infested with ants. When having suspected food poison, no running water to wash hands or other parts, (at 3 am). Towel, bedsheet, bedspread - homeless shelter would not serve what we got in 5* RIU. Pictures attaches, more available. Food Sea food, 4-5 names on the 'avoid' list Three types of 'yellow' cheese, cut in 10 ways to fool you there is good choice Goulash? just a joke Russian salad? another joke Four days before Christmas apple juice removed, cost cutting? Drinks Good replaced with something else, I would suspect something cheaper. Reception service Indifference to customer problems. Filthy sunbeds, past the recycle date by 2-3 years. White Friday Party OK, the rest just 1/10. --- Outside of control RIU Cabo Verde but affecting the hotel. Noise from RIU Palace (400 yards away) louder than the hotel entertainment. 16-21 guys outside hotel selling trips, Police arrived twice to control them.

Ignore the negative reviews from the ******. This is a lovely hotel. Fabulous buffet, caters for every taste and dietary needs. The wine is NOT watered down. Nor are the optics in your room. I know because it was replaced while I was in the room. The only downside is the selfish people who put towels on sunloungers and then bugger off. If you're not going to use them, don't do it. Also, smokers leaving cigarette stubs in the sand is not on. The entire staff are wonderful and always happy to assist and have a chat. The beach boys are no problem. Just be polite to them. A holiday is what you make it. If you want an absolute 5 star, then go somewhere else and stop taking pictures of frayed towels and cracked mirrors. I'm having a wonderful time and so should you

Having been to a Riu hotel on Boa Vista, we had high expectations of this Riu on Sal. What a disappointment! Rooms: dated, cheaply furnished, unclean in areas, very noisy with endless doors banging from early morning until late at night, staff wheeling noisy trolleys around, air conditioning spasmodic, internet poor. Food - dreadful - we eat most things and are not fussy, but the quality was poor, the flavour - well, non-existent - nearly all the hot dishes were barely warm, cheap ingredients badly cooked. We ate once in the Italian restaurant - asked if we could sit at a different table to the one allocated and waiter said "this is a restaurant, not a pub" - how rude! We were looking forward to being served - wrong! Buffet starter and dessert with limited choice and main course unappetizing and only warm. We ate twice in the Kulinariam restaurant where portions were tiny but in fairness the steak was quite nice. Drinks - everything tastes watered down, from the optics in the rooms to the wine in every restaurant, to the juices at breakfast and so on. Staff - with the exception of the reception staff, they were indifferent, unfriendly, hardly ever smiling and generally made you feel like they were doing you a favour serving you. Bars were understaffed and long queues formed. Entertainment - well, if you want to feel like you're in a retirement home where they're scared you'll die on their watch, take a seat at the pool. The 'entertainment' crew endlessly walked around, clapping and shouting and whoop-whoop-whooping every hour to encourage you to join in darts, volley ball, swim aerobics, archery etc, accompanied by loud music and/or dancing . The chances of just resting, sleeping or reading were nigh on impossible and their noise was incessant - just please SHUT UP!! The pool - insufficient size for the number of guests - beds were so close together it was like a dating site. Oh and the beds - absolutely filthy! Towels? Old, worn and torn. The island - landscape like the moon - rubbish everywhere - very little to see, but the beaches are beautiful.

We have been to many Rui hotels especially Caribbean and Boa Vista, thought we would give Sal a go, this is our honest opinion ill start with the positive first comfortable bed, good power shower, not a bad view of pool, adequate balcony vert tatty chairs, the, cleaner was very good, Main restaurant adequate, specialist venues, good, Now the not so happy bit, how can this be an adult only hotel when children are allowed in at night ?Especially on the neon night and white night when everyone is going crazy jumping up and down going mad and you have little tots under feet huge lasers that can damage eyes alcohol flowing come on that's not right !! for 4 days we couldn't get a sun bed around pool no body on the beds just towels, we could see them from our room going down at 6 am,aparently if you put your own towels down they where not allowed to remove them ? when you did get a bed my god they where absolutely filthy the pool area was a disgrace discarded cups glasses litter everywhere and flies ive never seem so many flies,The beach

This was our 3rd year here. Buffet was brill, service in bars and restaurants great, and the location is great, but it felt a bit like service and maintenance standards starting to slip, and the whole resort is slowly being run down. Room: looking tired, light broken (not fixed during stay), had to complain to get shower gel etc topped up, drinks replacements missed etc. Nicer restaurant menus have not changed in literally 3 years. Entertainment when a show or band is good, but wayyyy too much karaoke. Put a dj on. Common area toilets in bar areas poorly maintained. Pool loungers and screens dirty and broken, as is some of the pool tiling. Would be so good if some of the maintenance issues were addressed.

Just got back from Cabo Verde hotel after having a great two weeks there. I was a bit concerned about the bad reviews but needn't have worried. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the grounds are kept immaculate. The food in both the buffet and restaurants was good. Our room was cleaned and towels replaced every day and the minibar replenished every other day. Couldn't fault anything and overall had a great time.
