Villa Gelsomino Exclusive House

Villa Gelsomino exceeded our expectations. It is a beautifully restored and maintained historic villa. The hosts/owners could not have been more helpful prior to and during out stay. Unfortunately, we only had three nights. The room was sumptuous and had beautiful views. I believe it was called Cinge Terre. With only about 6 guest rooms, the villa is peaceful and the upper floor has a great sitting room. The main floor has a beautiful terrace where breakfast is usually served. We asked the hotel to make us some restaurant reservation for Santa Margherita, lunch in Portofino and even dinner in Monterosso, They were very efficient and friendly. One day there the weather was windy and rainy, so we opted to relax at the Villa and they fixed us a lovely lunch. There is no staff at night, but there is an honor bar on the main floor if guests wish to have a drink in the villa. The walk into town is short, but there are some steep stairs to and from the hotel. If you arrive or depart by train, the station is only a 5 minute walk but if you have luggage other than a backpack, a taxi is advised. Our room was on the smaller side,but still VERY comfortable. i would recommend Villq Gelsomino and hope to return myself.

The location is amazing - the view, the building, and the backyard. They preserved well the genoan elements in the house. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The italian breakfast was good and served elegantly in a beautiful room, with lots of homemade foods. The only drawback is that the parking was 10EUR per day.

A very nice experience with nice views. Rooms are large, very comfortable bed with nice linen and with the character of the original villa. Breakfast on the patio came with a beautiful view. Quality of the breakfast was also very nice. Hosts are friendly and helpful. The property is a little difficult to find but the on-site parking is an added benefit. Arrived late in the afternoon and drove into Portofino around 8pm no issues to have dinner. Access down to the town and station is from a stairway next to the hotel and easy to find but the climb is a little steep. Didn’t use it as I had a car but for those using public transport, getting up and down from the villa may require effort if you have luggage. No irons in room but they do provide a steamer. Overall a nice experience for a one night stay to visit Portofino.

This is a lovely place, perched on a hill above Santa Margeherita but still accessible for the town and all its delights. The staff are really friendly and the views are stunning. They haven't got a pool but have got a great spa tub and lovely gardens with sun beds. The building itself is stunning and views from the breakfast terrace would be hard to beat anywhere in the world.

Absolutely out of this world! A wonderful magical villa on a hillside looking over to the gulf of Portofino.Surrounded by well tended beautiful gardens, that are there if you should fancy an afternoon or evening relaxing in all their beauty. We were fortunate enough to stay in this stunning place for two nights, and received the very best of service from the staff, nothing too much trouble, and so friendly and informative. The villa itself is magnificent and sumptuous, formerly a home to a noble Italian family, and has the furnishings and decor that whisk you back to those very grand times. We stayed on a B&B basis, and each morning we ate breakfast on the patio overlooking views - that are out of this world, surely closest you could ever get to heaven! We would really love to stay again, but if this doesn't happen, we are so grateful for this out of the world experience, and would highly recommend to anyone reading this - to book up, very special. We had a wonderful stay at Villa Gelsomino right from the welcome! We felt at home and very cared for. The team are lovely and make our stay very relaxing. The bed was amazing, the best sleep we have had for a very long time. The room was spacious and well appointed and the breakfast a great start to each day, they even packed us a breakfast picnic when we travelled to Cinque Terre for the day on the train. And they happily made recommendations for places to eat and other helpful suggestions - highly recommended, thank you again!
