Just returned from a week away and I have mixed reviews. Location in itself was beautiful and the highlight has to be the beach, even though there was a cost to hire the sunbeds and parasols, but thats expected. We had no choice some days as the pool area on the hotel is way too crammed and beds too close together, giving no space or privacy. If you didnt put your towels dpwn earlier, then you left with very little choice or single beds dotted here and there. Only area we found they had some privacy was next to stage, but on windy days all you could hear was the rustling of tarpaulin covering tables stowed for the nightly entertainment, which became quite annoying. Other downsides to the hotel was its lack of disabled access. Way too many steps and there is no way to the pool area or beach without going down flights of steps. Not ideal when my wife is due a knee replacement 😒 The room (#7) was convenient, but located right above the bar, so once entertainment finished we often heard shouting and screaming until 2:30 in the morning. The air conn was brilliant, but the shower was a massive let down. Didn't have one decent one at all and it was either scolding hot or freezing cold, and often just a trickle. Food was good, plenty to choose from and al-a-carte was nice, but very quiet. We didn't see many there at all and it's a shame there is only one option. The hotel in general is actually quite small for the amount of rooms it has and i would say its a push at being a 4*. The pool is not big enough and the sun lounger area is crammed way too much. I wasn't a fan of the clear separation in class either, showcasing the Elite offerings more than standard. If you want to upgrade to elite it was €70 per day for a couple, but if you booked the whole thing beforehand it was an extra £129 per person.....seems a bit steep, but I think the way it's laid out is great marketing for them with a lot of people upgrading when they see what's on offer. We chose to resist and use the beach, which was much better. Over to the entertainment team. Wow, these guys were just brilliant 👏 Apart from Wednesday when they had a day off, there were constantly things going on for those who wanted to participate. We didn't bother, apart form Bingo, but it was really well organised. A credit to Hugo and Fanni. In summary we really needed a break and it was nice. Yes the steps were a pain, but the views and beach was worth it. Portinatx is pretty quite so nice for a relaxing break.
