La Place B&B

This is a really lovely bnb. Perfect hosts, beautiful room and communal space and location right in the centre of Sancerre. Ophelie and Thibault have thought of everything to ensure a great stay and we really appreciated their efforts. Breakfast is first class and we enjoyed the honesty bar for an apero of delicious local wine in the restful lounge before walking a few steps to a choice of fine restaurants. We are already planning a return visit

This is the best place to stay in Sancerre. It is right on the village square and close to the restaurants and cafes. Ophelie is a great hostess. The rooms are well appointed and to a very high standard with comfortable beds. Breakfast is plenty with some of the best croissants we have had (from the local Boulangerie). Good communal areas and wine at self-cost. Highly recommended.

A beautiful and comfortable stay in a great location in Sancerre. On arrival, Ophélie and Thibault greeted us warmly and we enjoyed a delicious glass of wine in the courtyard. The decor and renovation of an historic townhouse was very impressive. The public areas and rooms are gorgeous, yet in keeping with the history of the place. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom with thoughtful amenities. It was great to start each day with a delicious breakfast with a wide choice of food selections and beverages. If you are seeking a wonderful place to stay to explore the beautiful town of Sancerre and surrounding wine AOC areas, look no further. Highest recommendation - Merci Ophélie et Thibault !

La Place in Sancerre was wonderful! We went on a family girls’ trip to Sancerre and La Place greatly exceeded our expectations. Ophelie and her husband were lovely hosts, and the property was beautiful. We booked two rooms, both were clean, spacious and had modern bathrooms. The common areas were well appointed, inviting and morning breakfast in the “la cave cellar” was excellent. The property has five guestrooms and is a fully restored home, the prior home to Ophelie’s grandmother. It is in the heart of the downtown Sancerre square. It was easy to walk around the town and the town had spectacular views, restaurants, and shops. We booked on *******, and all worked out great. One tip, we took the train from Paris to Tracy Sancerre, the ride was just under two hours. The train was easy and very convenient but when you get to Tracy Sancerre, there is nothing: no station, no taxis, no Ubers 😊 and no people. The closest restaurant was over a mile away and we had luggage. A rookie tourist mistake. A special Thank You to Ophelie, I called her to help us with a Taxi and none were available. She sent her husband to pick us up, he arrived with a smile, grabbed our luggage, and loaded them into the van. He drove us to the B&B which was about six miles away and we had a glass of Sancerre in our grasp within 10 minutes of arriving! If we have the fortune to return, we will pre-book a taxi and book at La Place again! Merci Beaucoup Ophelie and La Place!

Oh my gosh, do yourself a favor and stay here. Five stars are not enough for this beautiful B&B. We just came from an old, dark hotel in Amboise to this newly renovated place that is light and airy and large, with a beautiful en suite bathroom and a sweet balcony overlooking the square. THIS is how you renovate these wonderful old buildings! I’ve honestly never been a fan of B&Bs, but Ophelie has changed my mind completely. She is lovely and the consummate hostess. I adore her and her perfect B&B. Enjoy her lovely breakfast, then walk out your front door right onto the main square of town . Heaven.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The owner is the perfect hostess. The location is perfect, close to restaurants, parking, tasting rooms and the chateau. Our room was modern and tastefully decorated. The common areas were beautiful as well. The breakfast served in the cellar was exquisite in every way. When we arrived we were greeted with glasses of local wine, and the marvelous hospitality was present throughout our entire stay!

I absolutely loved staying at this beautifully designed B & B in the heart of Sancerre. The young couple who own and operate this B & B are so warm and charming. They both went out of their way to be helpful and kind. The B & B is situated facing the main square, which is ideal. The inside is calm, peaceful and quiet. A lot of thought and attention went into designing this beautiful B & B. My room was inviting and comfortable and the bathroom was modern and efficient. The breakfast was delicious. When friends stopped by to pick me up one day, they all wished they had stayed here as well.

Ophelie has renovated her grandmother’s old townhouse into a beautiful, stylish, and calm B&B. Very comfortable and spacious; right on town square. Delicious breakfast with fresh croissants and pains. Upon arrival we were served a juicy glass of white Sancerre in the cosy courtyard whilst receiving great tips for wineries, villages, and restaurants. Ophelie did everything she could to help us during our stay. Highly recommended and hope to be back.

Ophelie has spent a couple of years renovating what was her grandmother’s residence. It was clearly a labour of love because the result is magnificent. Modern yet with great character a taste. It is in an amazing location overlooking the main square with its cafes and restaurants. She and her boyfriend are very warm and welcoming. The air conditioned rooms and en suites are fitted out to an exceptionally high standard. Breakfast in a stylish cellar room off the kitchen was excellent with continental offerings, homemade jam, fruit and cereals as well as cured ham and boiled eggs. I find it hard to recommend this guesthouse highly enough.
