As a solo traveler, a women-only hostel was very appealing. The location is not bad for Old San Juan. Although it is advertised as women only. They do inform you that there are cleaners that are male. And there are some male staff down in reception/check-in. The rooms are spacious. The beds are large. The beds do not have any privacy curtains or partitions. This can be tricky since the hall light can shine right into your face when the door opens. I would recommend an eye mask or towel to block some light out. The lockers are adequate but cramped. If your neighbor is using their locker there is limited space for you to use yours. The AC in the room is always on so the room does feel fresh. There are about 6 toilets and 6-8 showers. But only four sinks. Which can be tricky since some girls are using them to get ready. The bathrooms have NO AC. Only a fan. It was quite stifling. There is one small common area upstairs. It is quite small and has only four chairs. NO AC in this area as well. Downstairs in the check-in, there is a tea station with a couch and chairs. But downstairs is NOT females only. The reception/downstairs area is used as a check-in for another hostel as well, so males were present at times. The reception staff were friendly. The hostel is right across from a small bodega and bar. There is a bakery that is about a five minute walk that has sandwiches and coffee. There is small food stand about five minutes walk in the other direction as well. Walking to Old San Juan is about a 15-20 minute walk. Ubers there ranged from 6-15 dollars. Overall a good stay.
