HOVS is located in one of the most remote areas of Samal Island. It is virtually impossible to leave any time without your own car. I requested for a hotel pick-up from the hotel, but was informed they don't offer this service. Tricycle fare from the port is 70-150 pesos per head depending on your driver's mood. The hotel's restaurant stops serving beyond 6 pm. Checking in was seamless, but customer service was not satisfactory. We arrived at our room hopeful of a fast internet connection but were disappointed. TV Cable connection was virtually absent. After informing the front desk, they sent a guy over who didn't seem to have an iota of know-how on this matter. In the end, we spent the night without wifi and cable. Some inefficiencies were noted too with the staff. The front desk staff failed to communicate with the kitchen about the dinner order one time. With the limitedness of options around the area, this is a downer. The view from the rooms compensates supposedly. The sea is majestic and is a couple of minutes away. The resort truly is reminiscent of paradise. The sea and its sand are not as perfect as that of Boracay, but it will do. There is not much to do within the property but to relax. Given the state of food served though and everything else I mentioned, I advise looking for better Samal alternatives.
